This episode was also homage to Hana Kimura, an wrestler who committed suicide after being cyber bullied from a result of a staged live action show. Fans were brutal and she killed herself. Happened 2020.

RIP Hana Kimura (1997-2020), whom Akane was based on. She was cyberbullied for slapping the hat off someone on Terrace House, a reality TV show, for accidentally ruining one of her expensive wrestling costumes in the laundry . The drama was staged by the producers.

This episode was so real it was terrifying. A fact about this episode is that this is based on a true story. Before this part of the manga was written there was a young female entertainer committed suicide after getting canceled online after an altercation on reality tv. Her name was Hana Kimura, a female professional wrestle. Sadly, unlike Akane, she did not have someone like aqua to save her.

This was actually based on Hana Kimura's suicide, a very similar and tragic case that happened months before the chapter was aired. Unfortunately there was no Aqua to save her. Of course it will. Though it's aimed at the Japanese audience because it's based on a real case that ended in a suicide it applies all over the world. Even people who watch this and think it was sad are probably going on the internet to say shit about somebody famous or on TV because to them it's fair game. The second you say or do something they disagree with the internet will keep at you forever until they are turned into the bad guy and suddenly they pretend it wasn't them.

As for "what Akane could've done better", I'd change the question and say "why is Akane's agency failing her so bad". What the hell was that president's problem, yelling at Akane's manager? Why are they putting her in a reality TV show, where she's clearly completely out of her element? I think the AGENCY has a RESPONSIBILITY to make the idol/actress succeed. She's obviously doing her best. Agency, do better.

They do. They gave her the chance to succeed. Aka put this in a month after Hana's death. A lot of the tweets you saw were the real thing Hana saw on her phone and computer. Aqua was there to save Akane because this is fiction and the hero comes just in the nick of time. Realty many suicides the cry for helps comes way too late and even worse the ones that show no signs that look happy one day and the next they are gone because they wore that mask so well. This gets you really thinking about life and how real life can really swallow you hole.

Akane takes notes behind the scenes. It's her first time doing reality TV, and she's busy taking notes instead of doing stuff on camera. That's not her fault cuz she's a fish outta water. The viewers are middle and high schoolers, and maybe a small percentage of early 20s people. So large majority of the viewers are NOT going to think about stuff behind the scenes. They just see what's on camera. Akane's NOT suited for reality TV cuz there's no script, so Akane HAS to be proactive and stand out but she's not like that. I think she's at her best when there is a script 9:40. Everything that happened past the slap/scratch whatever it was, was just crazy and out of control. Aqua gotta have her join B-komachi, at least she wont be alone looking at twitter in her room, she'll have emotional support from her age group. Yeah what adorkable said.

It's based on a true story. Sadly, she didn't have anyone to help her. Set a limit on ourselves on how much we should care what people say. If we care too much, we won't be able to satisfy them all. If we don't care at all, we are irresponsible and heartless. We need to be able to think for ourselves at times.

Basically she isn't very good at improv and doesn't seem very outgoing which a reality TV show relies on quite heavily. Under normal circumstances, even if you are not outgoing but are an actor you can usually play it up and portray yourself as outgoing when you have a script to do so. But when there is no script and you have to improv, it's just not easy and can take a lot of practice. And it's a very different kind of practice as well. Maybe a good way to go about it would be to have a randomizer just pick a topic and a character type, and then you have to try and act out and come up with something entertaining on the spot in regards to both. A big part of it is being able to be quick with ideas and acting it out right away. Plus, I imagine practicing improv can also help you come up with things quickly without it being something that could get you canceled lol If you are not used to it, you could accidentally say something dumb and get in a lot of trouble.

This is not related to the episode, but I'm really excited to watch your guys' reaction to next week's episode. This is one of my favorites arcs in the manga because of how realistic it felt to me, which is to be expected knowing that it is based on a true story.

Yeah, this was a heavy episode. You hate to see someone’s name just dragged through the mud , especially if there might not be any truth to the rumors or even if what they did wasn’t as bad as some people make it out to be, but we have our own egos and some of us are always out searching for something to help feel superior to someone else. Even better if it’s someone you thought was doing better in life than you. Tragic.

i mean this whole arc was inspired by hana kimura suicide when she was getting cyberbullied after a scene on netflix tv series named the terrace house and i believe it was on 2020. so yeah cyberbullying in japan was still happened and as brutal as it is.

First off, that cut looking immaculate. It's like Mr. Lee added another zero at the end to his net worth instantly. Second, that suicide prevention directory at the end was the highlight. Edit: Just imagine how many Akane there are globally.

ofc the west has it's fair share of toxic hate comments, but east asian celebrities get insane hate, esp bc the parasocial relationships on these shows are also heightened viewers think they know a person, also cause the standards on acceptable behaviour is just 10x more strict. ntm a lot of these hate comments are left by antisocial chronically online ppl or children who have no boundaries. most well known celebrities are trained to handle it and not read but akane's also only a child and her management could care less, so it leads to situations like these, more so cause she's introverted and can't express herself well. to watchers she seems like a sweet girl but if she was a real person, most would call her cold cause you wouldn't see her talk much or see her diligence. this is also another huge reason why children shouldn't be put in the spotlight like this lol but japan is weird as hell

People actually do say things like that. Since the story was based on a true story many of the messages shown on screen were taken from that case where somebody went on TV and was driven to suicide by people attacking her over an on screen segment where she argued with a popular person on a reality TV show.

My opinion on the question you asked Lee about what her issue may have been. I think she was simply doing the wrong type of show. She isn't spontaneous, so being in a reality show where it's all about that back and forth between people at a moments notice with no lines and such, I think, was the issue. I have no doubt that if she was in a normal movie like role where she had lines and was told to act a certain way, she would be fine. Edit: I paused and wrote this comment before I got to the part where adorkable basically said everything I was saying... so yeah what she said 😅

Akane needs Ruby and Arima as friends. Their personalities will help balance her own. And they will help build her up. She could learn alot from both of them. The only snag I see happening, is a bit of a love triangle with her and Arima both havin feelings for Aqua.

@ 17:57 Adorkable : "I can't believe people would actually write that" .. All THREE of us looked at her the same way 🤣🤣🤣. I've already written about how I stay away from social sites, forums, etc as much as I can and this episode shows exactly why. Hide humans behind a screen and they will show what absolute bottom feeding trash they can be.

I’m surprised that the comment about bullying isn’t bad in America. HOW MANY SCHOOL SHOOTINGS happen in America and a lot of that is down to the fact someone gets bullied that bad that they lash out. You don’t hear about that in Japan.

“Other than the police and the military, no one in Japan may purchase a handgun or a rifle. “ Cant have shootings if you cant have a gun. But anyways i think Bullying is bad in America we just have different exposure to media. Lol. She doesn’t watch the news much or even go online like the rest of us so the world she sees is different than what i see. I guess kinda good for her. 😭😭😭. She dont see how bad the world is
