This episode is an INCREDIBLY important one. Let’s get into it. We do need to discuss the avatar state. What OFA has and what AFO has. It’s seen as a fight of willpower. And Deku’s will in the most HELPLESS of circumstances won out. This is AFO’s best chance with Deku only being at 45%. But like EVERY situation Deku has no matter the odds he forces his way forward. Even in a world he LITERALLY can’t move in. Now Shigaraki DOES have to face front and center his past and AFO knows to try and trigger his anger towards Nana. AFO wants to be reunited with his brother. And their wills in difference of using vs supporting people. AFO is MANGLED with Shigaraki. (And manga readers call them AFS. All for Shigaraki at this juncture.) Of the willpowers in this show, I’d say Deku has the greatest of ALL of them. And it’s why All-Might chose him. THIS specific willpower battle Izuku Midoriya has the greatest chance. (Even though All-Might didn’t know AFO was alive and freaked out that he doomed a teenager to a 200 year war.) It was NOT possible for AFO to steal OFA before. And while we’ve discussed AFO’s capabilities and limits as the god quirk stockpile he has. (He has to understand the intricacies and combine quirks to get to his god status, giving him ULTIMATE versatility and 2nd best stockpiler to OFA itself. Which has 2nd best versatility but the superior stockpiler. It’s why they are equal level quirks) We’ve never OUTRIGHT discussed AFO. The holes in his hands are the trademark appearance of AFO. (Like a certain religious figure. He just chose to be the OTHER one instead.) We don’t know the exact function of AFO itself. Does he have 1 hand for taking quirks and 1 hand for passing them? Or can he use both from both sides? (Which I asked the same question for Todoroki in season 5 as it was coming out) Can he steal more than 1 quirk at a time? (And if he can use both, can he steal more than 2?) Because by the time AFO would have realized what had happened with OFA in his brother, OFA was already 3 quirks. (Stockpile, pass, and whatever the 2nd holder’s quirk is) And I can only assume he passed AFO to Shigaraki because he actually HAS the willpower to do what he couldn’t. Whatever that is. Willpower of quite literally selfishness vs selflessness. And if there’s one thing we know for sure, Deku is more selfless than Shigaraki is selfish. Also while Deku WILL inevitably go Super Saiyan, we are a LONG ways away. But Deku DOES have Gohan rage, kaioken, mind reading (except not a 1 off no explanation power.), I guess we can say spirit bomb, and solar flare if we want to make Dragon Ball comparisons. We just aren’t at the BIG transformation. And that’ll be when Deku gets the prime of OFA. I think OFA is a better version of the avatar state, but the dragon ball part IS there. Just…don’t get too caught up in the comparisons for big DBZ fans out there. Those are the LOUDEST MHA haters I’ve noticed. And it boils down to: “Deku isn’t Goku, so he sucks.” And it’s all because Deku isn’t CONSTANTLY doing what he did against AFO at the beginning of the episode. Machia is still a monstrosity no one can stop. Nothing new there, we saw the guy literally SWIM through buildings in Deika city. Running 60 mph is TERRIFYING. And equatable damage to a man that moves WELL over the speed of sound. Actually he moves several TIMES the speed of sound. Yeah…walking disaster. I want to criticize the heroes for not having Machia contingencies, but the question remains, what COULD it have been?! Where could they transport him, how could they inflict ANY kind of meaningful damage. And the answer is…without All-Might Prime? They couldn’t. ALL they could do was arrest the Doctor and prevent Shigaraki from waking up. That’s IT. Even under erasure by some miracle he’s STILL massive. And Aizawa HAD to be there against Nomu appearances at the other location. There was NOTHING. But now we got Uraraka and Toga. Uraraka has flight gear, I still will say it’s not possible for her to be THIS versatile in the air even with that so there’s gotta be more to it. And if you’ve never seen my theory for her, I believe Uraraka has outright gravity CONTROL. And apart of that is changing gravity’s natural direction. (She flies in curves while making it look like falling in an arc. Which so happens to fit perfectly.) And that REALLY helps her flying patterns outside boot boosters. And she’s demonstrated other gravity breaking rules in the past. From decreasing gravity, increasing it, and giving objects a gravitational pull. ALL of them have been displayed (IN the anime) but not outright introduced to her arsenal. (And you gotta know a LOT about gravity to catch her gravity play being REALLY weird.) I’m sure I’ll get to point out her quirk being weird in this confrontation next episode. Because it’s OFTEN acting outside Zero Gravity and regular gravity functions. And while she SHOULD get away from Toga and go back to prioritizing lives, confronting her wasn’t that dumb either because it keeps her occupied and NOT killing random civilians. Uraraka is no pushover. Don’t sleep on her talents. She’s in my opinion the 5th strongest student of the 41 kids. (She did kinda single handedly beat almost everyone in the Class B battle. And can take the full BRUNT of an out of control OFA Blackwhip to the face. And that destroyed buildings.) Toga…is wondering what the value of a villain’s life is to a hero. Are they truly expendable. Twice was from her perspective. Only Dabi knows JUST how much Hawks wanted to save Twice. And her care is just expressed different from us. (Y’know. Not in anyway a conceivable way for us non-Renfield’s syndrome people to understand. Which is blood drinking obsession.) So would HER life be valued or is she over the line of those ALLOWED to be protected. Uraraka was kinda distracted by the whole apocalypse happening outside and says you took out someone JUST to ask me that?! And Toga got caught on the just. We’ll see where that goes. It’s a VERY confusing mindset BECAUSE she’s so out there, and I’m trying to weed out the thought process that exists SOMEWHERE in there. Toga be weird and BADLY needs therapy. And be locked up until she recovers and carries out her sentence. (Which…I don’t think that would be for life actually. I think Renfield’s Syndrome WOULD prevent that.) And last thing before I forget, I think Bakugo got hit in the shoulder, by the appendix, and somewhere else. He could ABSOLUTELY bleed out, but other vital hits would pretty much prevent him from talking to Deku even as short as he did. Overall? Great episode. WEIRD one that needs more information. And we will see where it goes. You just…can’t look at surface level for this because it’s so complex.

Like this can't get anymore on-the-nose or ham-fisted. Like there's problems with the hero system and society, yes, but at this point they're just being hilariously tone-deaf.

Honestly, in the manga, Ochaca needed to just put a brick to Toga’s head a few times. So fucking tired of her character and her plot at the moment. She has a sad story sure, but they way it’s tried to be played into making her seem ‘human’ or ‘redeemable’; yet completely also stay firm with her being completely insane and not able to understand basic ass emotions

I see everyone joking about the villains being like "we can kill but you arent supposed to", but imo thats exactly correct. Killing is inherently wrong. The villains know that and feel they have no choice but to embrace that, and the heroes should know that. Hawks hated that he had to kill from what I remember and tried to avoid it. he knew that at the end of the day, twice was a victim who just cared for those he was close to. honestly imo what toga wanted to hear was that she'd try to save everyone, whether hero or villain (something deku would say) because when i read the manga it seemed to me like toga was looking for the door. Ochako's response was completely understandable and i probably would have reacted the same if i was thinking in the heat of the moment, but it wasn't exactly the "true hero" response toga wanted. Take deku for example. He was fighting gentle and the moment he found out that gentle was a victim/he could relate to gentle, he tried to help cover up the fight. He was fighting shigaraki and was raging. But the second he saw that shigaraki was being used by afo, he goes to try and save him right as the previous users say he fights for the sake of others. Shigaraki is without a doubt a villain, but he was also a victim just like pretty much everyone else in the league. This is exactly the kind of behavior that led stain(toga's inspiration in a way) to claim that deku is a true hero Obviously, there will be times when a hero will have to kill. But for ochako to kind of act like killing to save someone else would be easy isn't exactly right. And manga readers know this

It’s pretty easy for people to just dismiss the killing thing, but the whole point of it being brought up is to further show the problem with hero society. The thing that should help differentiate between heroes and villains is that heroes do things the right way, villains do not. Keep in mind a lot of these villains are here because of hero society, it’s literally been the theme since like season 2.

honestly for the killing villains thing. it is a bit more complicated as these guys are paid, hired by the government and have a massive impact on the world they live in, and like shigaraki said there are lots of little problems that build up, what it means to be a hero is being blurred because whats the point of this kind of society if killing becomes okay, for these pepole who alredy have massive impact and some of them control around the very law, and the idealised myth that makes the pepole support the. I think the whole toga thing is to show how fake and broken the social systems are in MHA, a hero is flawed job ,you cant kill people or cause to much harm like serious injuries or use of tranquilize drugs to a vilian(criminal) even in situations where is a needed, but if a hero does kill someone out of necessite because the vilian is unreasonable,insane,dangerous, acidental,emergency either they are hated by the population or it gets covered up to keep the popular view that heros are the forever good and vilians are just bad no matter what .because hero exist civilians assume that they dont need to help or take the initiative to help because a "hero" is asumed to be there and that is their job .if you are born with a unsual quirk (spiners looks like a lizard ,toga has a obession with blood that she cant control , eri a extreme danger that can kill you with one touch, shinsou that can brainwash people.) you get hated by it even if have you done nothing and that pushes you to be outcast leading you to be a selfcentred and cynical person wich lead down the path to be a villian where they get marked by society has absolute evil and hero get marked like absolute good even when heros on the of day also are shitty people endeavor being abussive to his family, the washmachine guy is just a propaganda poster to a product, the kabuto guy that just give up of corwadice , etc.

You can't say she is crazy. She is more like in a place of discovery. She is discovering she is everybody who blood she drinks and it still is not ok. Like how did she even figure out that was her quirk? There was just some random human blood around and she looked both ways before she licked it up and turned to whoever blood it was. Such a weird power to have. I suppose now she can use the quirk owners power but still a weird one that a violent girl has.

I am 100% convinced that the Uraraka and Toga scene was only made because Gigantomania would have been done for otherwise. She is literally a hardcounter for him. Make him weightless, throw him up and either drop him from a height he gets knocked out from, or just let him float till the heroes get there. Without Toga being weird, they might have lost Machia then and there.

Toga canonically liking Ochako in a romantic sense and asking her what she wants to "do" to her while sitting on top of her is a whole other level. All jokes aside, I really liked that moment with Spinner and Compress being worried about Toga. They might be villains. But they're all pretty much a family at this point. And Dabi is still being the edgy brother who pretends he doesn't care whenever the family discusses stuff. When this was originally coming out in the manga, I didn't like the AFO trying to take over Shigaraki stuff. In fact, I still don't. Even after seeing it animated. Because before AFO was all like, "I can't steal this quirk. It doesn't go well with Tomura's skills and would take him too long to master." But if his plan was just to take over, that logic doesn't really make sense. However, to consider this plotline from all angles, some people pointed out that Tomura looked really similar to the First User during S2. To the point that some people thought Tomura was AFO's brother. And I don't think that similarly isn't intentional. AFO reveals in this episode that it's constantly bothered him that he could never control his brother. Even after death, he's still resisting him. I think AFO is trying to create his own evil version of his little brother that he could never do when he was alive. He takes a kid who was good, like his brother. Who is a direct descendant of someone who had his brother's power. And then he takes him in after tragedy strikes and manipulates that little boy into becoming evil. Before eventually inserting his consciousness into the boy. Everything he couldn't do to his brother, he's trying to do to Tomura. Which like, it happened over a hundred years ago. Get over it, AFO. While I don't like this plotline, because I much prefer Tomura as his own villain, I can at least see the potential angle on it. Speaking of which, Tomura's hatred literally almost devoured a quirk world and almost ate away the rules of said powerful quirk. That is a lot of hate. You're doing great, sweetie.
