A Jewish Descendant - The story of Holocaust survivor Jakub Weksler Waszkinel

Jakub Weksler was born in the Švenčionys Ghetto in 1943. When he was two months old, his mother Batia asked a Polish acquaintance, Emilia Waszkinel, to take the baby and save his life. Emilia and her husband Piotr took little Jakub, and named him Romuald.
Weksler was raised Catholic, unaware of his family history, and went on to become a priest. Decades later, Weksler learned of his Jewish roots, beginning his journey back to Judaism.

Excellent video. I had previously watched two films about Jakub Weksler and thought this would be a repeat but it was not. I had never watched the interviews in French and I did not know he works at Yad Vashem. It was new to me and very touching that he had his Bar Mitzvah with Rabbi Lau present.

What a kind-hearted and tender-hearted man. This made me cry. So much sadness and loss. Yeshua is Moshiach. Those who believe in Him are grafted into Israel’s olive tree. Salvation is of the Jews. what an amazing heartbreaking story. I shivered when I heard him say Sobibor. It's incredible to think that I was born just a few years after these atrocites.

In the video, the mother's name is given as Batia, which would be correct in modern Israeli Hebrew. However, in Eastern Europe בתיה was more likely pronounced as Basya or Basye.
