Күн бұрынYakuza: Like a Dragon review/first thoughts is a role-playing video game developed and published by Sega. It is the eighth main release in the Yakuza series, and was released in Japan for PlayStation 4 on January 16, 2020. It is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 10, 2020 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S; the latter will have the game as a launch title. A PlayStation 5 version is set to release on March 2, 2021.

theres a cool story behind this, "etc" used to be "misc" or something and somebody on twitter pointed out that it could spell sega if it was "esc" and somebody from the localization team saw it and put it in

I love everything about it: The turn-based combat, the setting and the humour, especially how bonkers Toshihiro Nagoshi‘s mind is :D Also helps that Virtua Fighter 5 is thrown in for free.

Well, not really. You see, Like a Dragon is the series' name in Japan, not Yakuza. For some reason they dropped the number 7 for the west release and used the original title as a subtitle.

Lol! Incredible! I love that franchise too bro. I hope they make one more. At least one more Dragon Quest. Yuji Horii said they are all getting old and he doesn’t know if they can do another one.... that was before we found out DQ12 was in development. Both of these games are great. DQ being the first RPG to consoles has a special place in my heart.

It's not the first time Square Enix games has been brought up in the Yakuza series. In 0, there's a side story involving a game that's clearly Dragon Quest, and in a later one (6 or Kiwami maybe) you can go on a date with a hostess who admits to having had a crush on Sephiroth.

Huge fan of the Yakuza series. I started with Yakuza 0 then I played every Yakuza game over the next year or so.. Can't wait to finally play this one next week!

I did it. I played the ENTIRE Yakuza series minus dead souls and kizen. For me, I got SO MUCH more out of yakuza 7 since I played the series. But Yakuza references aside, it also has SO MUCH Sega content. Even being quizzed about real life Sega games and hardware. I would kill to see your Spoiler heavy Final thoughts on the game. But yeah playing the whole series takes forever. You can easily knock out 75-100hrs per game if you're trying to 100% it all. Tbh, 350hrs is a good estimate for just doing the main storyline and skipping all the side content. But it's Yakuza, the side content is what makes it great.

I have never played any of the Yakuza series before. But this new entry sounds very cool. When it's a journey that can take many forms and directions, and most of all fun. That's what matters. Excellent video 😎

As great as it is having japanese voice acting it's sometimes just nice to be able to hear the dialogue instead of having to read everything especially with my bad eyesight. One of the reasons I enjoyed Judgment so much. Glad Yakuza 7 has english

I always like it when we get English and Japanese, gives the game more replayability. My eyesight went bad about a year ago have to wear glasses now when reading long distance, not sure when it got worse just happened overnight. Definitely would like to see more games with English voices would be alot easier on the eyes for both of us. Maybe they could put a option for bigger subtitles most of the time it's too small. I've played a few RTS games on ps4 that were ported over from the PC and can barely read it because it was meant for pc gamers that sit close to the screen.

I've always found the Japanese accent hard to listen too, i just can't listen to it, find it kinda... annoying in tone. And then you have terrible english dubbing, i can't win 🤷🏻♂️

Thanks for the awesome review! Can’t wait to get a copy and play it! I have recently bought all the yakuza series on PS4 . I just finished yakuza 0 and starting yakuza 1 remake and going to keep going until yakuza 6. You should play the yakuza remakes of 1 and 2. It’s such an improvement from the originals back from the ps2 days! Awesome video as always!

Man I can't wait for this! I've beaten Yakuza 0,Kiwami 1 and 2 and now I'm on 6 . I haven't played the remastered collection of 3-5.

Seems odd to go straight to 6 after finishing Kiwami 2 as you're missing a lot of events that happened to Kiryu and Haruka. I will go ahead and say 3 is kind of a mixed bag for some people (Kiwami 2's side story of a director having picked up a yakuza movie franchise with its third entry and fans having mixed feelings about it was a huge meta narrative as the director for the Yakuza series did in fact change with Yakuza 3), but I enjoyed it. Some people also feel 5 is maybe a little too long for its own good but opinions can vary (notably in the remastered collection they were able to fit 3 and 4 on one disc but 5 is so big it got a disc all to itself).

My favorite game series of all time! (especially Yakuza 2) Can't wait to play this one and see the new direction of the games. Always felt the series was a great rpg beatemup hybrid so the bigger focus on rpg elements has me intrigued.

i just bought this whole super classic series days ago which came to 180 I got judgement to i didnt buy 0 and the zombie one sense i beat them earlier this year I got 2-7 4 days ago and yesterday got judgement next month I get 1 will be playin on ps5 next year I dont know if I will like this one tho it seems so silly should I try or skip

i said this on IGN's review but I'm still very mixed about a Yakuza game being a turn based RPG but Yakuza is my favourite game series of all time so i'll still play it after getting a PS5 (when there is more stock but i have the money ready) i just wish we got the Yakuza 7 demo on the UK PSN so i could try the combat for myself before buying :)

I'm not sure if it's as easily done on PS4, but back in the day I used to just switch my region on PS3 to JP in order to gain access to games not available in EU. Worth a try if the combat is really make or break for you!

The battle system change is the biggest plus for me personally. I actually actively try to get in fights this time instead of run from them. The story is engaging and entertaining, even if a lot of the tropes are the same, I'm having such a blast playing it.

I played this series for the first time this year, just finished Yakuza 3 after playing through kiwami 1+2, currently on my playthrough of 4. If you haven't played these games yet I highly recommend getting stuck in. It feels like I'm finally bingeing on a TV series that I've heard people recommend for years

@@doughnut5945 it's a bit jarring going into 3 after Kiwami 2 but stick with it, took me some time to get into it if I'm being honest. Please take my advice on one thing however: do not play 3 on hard mode. I completed every game prior on hard and made the error of doing the same for 3. This difficulty made my playthrough so unenjoyable, i enjoy a challenge in my games but this was just artificial difficulty and made the entire run a chore rather than a joy. I do hope you enjoy the game on whichever difficulty you so choose though

Ichi Ban is my Hero already. Played Dragon Quest on the NES because of it. Never before would I explore a characters interest to the point I play the games they played to understand their character. Just love this game. I couldn't sell it to my friends they have to discover it themselves

I usually don’t mind real time or turn based combat but I personally loved yakuza for the combat system before this one. I’m a big fan of this series & not gonna lie, I’m a little skeptical about this one... I have it preordered & I’m willing to give it a shot before I decide how I feel. It seems interesting enough & I’m looking forward to the story & what they do after Kiryu

This game is awesome. Its so smart And funny And crazy how its woven into an rpg, kinda genius if u ask me haha. People should play this. The story is so epis it has a huge couple hour long prologue, And the twists And turns come right out the gate. Yakuza like a dragon quest game is fun as hell.

8 main titles, 2 remakes, 6 spin-offs on console, 2 psp spin offs and 3 additional games coming 2023 and 2024 - we‘re looking as 21 games here, most of them have been released in English. I think Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Yakuza 0 and Judgement Are currently the best entry points. However, if you do have access to a PS2 or have a way to emulate PS2 games, I recommend playing through the main series in release order. Yakuza 1-2 on PS2, Yakuza 3-5 on PS3 or the remasters on PS4, One, PC; Yakuza 6 on PS4, One, Pc, Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X and PC.

It's so weird to see him holding an Xbox copy of the game in the thumbnail, since Yakuza has always been a PlayStation franchise. Also, this game is incredible! I played through the entire Yakuza series last year to prepare for it, and I'd honestly say that it's probably the best in the series! I don't think I'd agree that this is a good game to "jump into the series" with, though, since it still relies HEAVILY on knowledge of characters, organizations, and plot elements from the previous games, and also spoils the previous games as well.

I love comedy rpgs alot more than the really serious ones so this will be my first yakuza game to start with. I've known this series for years but I never got around to nor don't know where to start. I think the original story got remake'd or rebooted or something. If someone can tell me what other yakuza games I should play hopefully ones that can abridged the gameplay time so I can just enjoy them quickly so I can get to other games on my list.

0 (prequel) > Kiwami (remake of 1) > Kiwami 2 (remake of 2) > Remastered Collection (Remasters of 3-5) > 6 (final game in Kiryu's saga) > Like A Dragon (new game). That's the chronological order and the best order to play them. All of them are on PS4, while only 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2 and Like A Dragon are on Xbox and PC.

This is what 2020 needed! Got this today day one! Finally something to enjoy on Xbox from Japan. This along with the release of dragon quest next month for Xbox is just amazing! A deep involved rpg with An amazing story. This is a sleeper hit. I know that none of my friends are going to pay any attention to this game but they should!

judgement's good, but i'd recommend yakuza 0

I actually played Yakuza 0 and then Yakuza 6 and didn't feel like I was missing anything. Blasphemy I know lol. Judgment is the most invested i've been so far with the english dub. Only so much reading I could do in one sitting with the previous games

And play all the series, since it's that good. Btw, it's a little strange that this series is not well played or talked about among collectors.

Im definitely not a fan of Turned Based combat....but I do love Yakuza Series. My question is: Should I give it a try and try to get used to this kind of combat? What do you guys think? I swear I try to like this type of game, but with any kind of sucess

Ive been sitting on this video until i finally started the game... Good thing it was only 3 years!! Lol. Absolutely having a blast with this entry, and it's also my very first yakuza game as well. I don't think i could have picked a better one to start with. Now im super hyped for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth next month! Definitely gonna he a day 1 buy

This may get lost in things, and I’ll try to post this on newer videos, but for those who don’t know Rob put out an update saying he will lose his leg before the year is up.
