We head 6000 ft ish up to the mountains yamadori collecting. We collect some sub alpine fir bonsai and Englemann spruce bonsai. It was super exciting and fun heading up to the snow at the start of July, neither of us knew what to expect but both were pleasantly surprised at the quality of trees. We hope to collect bonsai in this region once the snow melts a little more. As always collecting and when looking for nursery bonsai I'm finding it important to try to see the end Bonsai design of the tree because once your up there it becomes tree overload, as perspective is lost. I highly recommend taking the time to collect in regions that produce the type of bonsai material you want. As my practice increases I realize the value of my time and have begun to look for better and better trees that can one day become bonsai. As you'll see we laugh and have tons of fun collecting, it's such a unique way to acquire bonsai material. I also like to collect rocks from the regions that I collect the Bonsai to represent the natural habitat where the tree grows. I hope you enjoy this video. I hope to visit Ken's new garden soon and so look for upcoming videos on his place and more wisdom from him. Thanks for watching
