I work for years with QL 5. never touched a CL. But the QL was always enough for the shows i do. But with more and more musicians using In Ear the QL can run out of Mixes very fast and i need at least 2 verbs 1 dly and 2 stereo mixbusses means only 8 Mixes left for just MONO In ear if you have 8 Musicians. If 4 musicians you can give em Stereo In ear. But i love th fact that the QL has all the onboard Mic Pre´s and 16 OMNI Outs. I would only use a CL because of 24 Mixes, just in case. Otherwise the QL is my go to desk for years.

Andrew Broughton made a good comment about 10:15 - the small Dante patch difference. The CL defaults to Ch1 = Dante 1, Ch2 = Dante 2, etc. while the QL defaults to Ch1 = Omni1, Ch2 = Omni2 and so on. This is why the additional step is needed when using Dante controller, but ONLY if the CL or QL still has it's default patch. In certain conference situations, when the wireless mics are at FOH and not networked /dante inputs, but physical inputs (maybe like a old Shure UR4D) then the CL’s 8 inputs get pretty full pretty quickly - especially when you’ve got maybe a couple of video inputs from a film and maybe also your MP3 player for walk-in music. Fortunately most wireless is Dante these days but if your wireless system is old then you might be better off with a QL (even the smaller QL1 has 16 inputs at the back of the console).
