I like how they captured the market of beginners who want a near-pro instrument. The app seems difficult to use though.

The app is a piece of cake. We just posted a tutorial video on it that shows just how easy it is. Don't let the first impression fool you. :) ...but you're right. This series is geared towards beginners who want a really nice piano to play with as they get started.

How does this digital piano compares to the Roland GP-9 (is the sound/feel, key action better)? I'm curious to know

Certainly, that is a matter of opinion. What I can say is that the GP-9 has longer keys with more leverage, higher resolution key sensors and haptic feedback (carrying acoustic vibrations back to your fingers). Whether or not you'll like it better is up to you, but (on paper at least) the GP-9 has better specs.
