I purchased a 1986 clavinova in 1989 and Loved the the realistic sounds and it's compact size for my small apartment. It had some of the features of this newer model and was very affordable. This new model pickes where my old model left off. This new model is like star trek. I like it enough to buy. Thanks for the great demo 👍😀💖🎼🎵🤩🙏.

This is very nice descriptive run through of all the Clavinova features. And some bits are played to demonstrate some of those features. I learned a lot, and I'm considering a Clavinova. This interview could have been just a little better with a bit more demo playing as each feature was discussed. I'm not sure if all these features are documented somewhere, so this video is very good for potential buyers (like me). Nice job gentlemen.

I bought myself the Clavinova CLP 575 PE last summer and a v fine instrument it is too. I found this a helpful video but would love to see a video demonstration of the CLP 575 PE taken through its paces - all its features and functions.

I bought a CLP585 last year, and absolutely love it. In my opinion if you're going to purchase a 500 or 600 series Clavinova, spend the extra money and get the 585 or 685 model. The lower end models are nice, but once you play the 585 (or new 685), you'll never be happy with the others. In addition to the amazing sound and action, It's also a beautiful piece of furniture.

When you update please explain the differences in the model numbers and price ranges.

When looking for a digital piano, it is always a good idea to check equivalent models from Kawai and Roland as well and then try and compare them yourself, Yamaha may have a bigger brand, but that is all about it, Kawai’s top models have real soundboards and 100% wooden keys, Roland’s have 100-level force responses and fully modeled sounds, which Y does not.

So many things by Yamaha. I use a Yamaha FXSHO cruiser, a Yamaha clavinova, and a quad by yamaha

I have a question for Craig Knudsen, or anyone else. I have a CVP 210. I mostly have used it just to simulate acoustic piano. I'd like to use the other functions, but find the manual pretty dense and not easy to learn from. I'd like to find someone to give me Clavinova lessons - not piano lessons - lessons in the different functions of the instrument, how to find them, things like how to set the split point between voices; how to move one side of the split up or down an octave so that you can have both sides at the right range for the instrument simulated; how to record - can you build up a recording track by track playing all the different instruments, and, if so, how does that work; and are they automatically synchronized; how to use the instrument for piano practice, etc. I think it would be possible to do lessons over Skype, though not ideal, if I can't find someone locally. I'm surprised that Yahama doesn't make more training videos available on KZfaq. Most of the stuff that is there tends to wow you with what the instrument can do, but not go slow enough for you to learn how to do it. Suggestions appreciated. I'm in Fort Myers, Florida.

The weakest place of all digital pianos is left pedal (una corda). Pressing una corda pedal on acoustic grand piano, you'll hear some changes in tonal quality - it happens because hammers now strike one string instead of three. But all digital pianos I've tried (not so many of them, though) didn't create this effect. Digital instruments just decrease the volume when you press left pedal, but don't change tonal quality, What about these instruments?

One day, possibly soon, I may get a Clavinova. For now I am still using my YDP121 which I absolutely ADORE, still going strong after so many years. Perhaps strangely, I actually prefer its action to the few Clavinovas I've played. The YDP121 is vastly underrated, it is delightful.

I would like to purchase any Yamaha Clavinova piano that can play the floppy discs....I know these would be very old pianos...what do you think I should expect to pay for one of these older pianos?

Worst thing I ever bought have never been able toast os see the very small black buttons for accompaniment. Bought from EVOLA on Hall road Clinton two and they never followed up with me or gave me any help how to set accomplished. I have an organ bought in Royal Oak Mi years ago great accomplishment easy to set great rhythms, what a difference.

Yes, yes everything this sales representative says is true, but like anything in life there are pros and cons to everything in life. yes you do not have to tune it, but what happens when the power goes out?

We are looking at history of a keyboard being around for 30+ years, yet 30 years ago a lot of people had acoustic pianos at home. Even the benefit of not having to tune the instrument didn't see a single home with a Yamaha digital until the 1990s. Today the technology is there but Suzuki teachers still prefer students have an acoustic at home for a 100% natural sound. While other gadgets in your home are made to look like pieces of plastic, a Clavinova keyboard is made to look look a traditional piece of furniture. Close the cover and all the buttons are hidden. A lot of keyboards ended up in homes with kids learning to play piano. After a few years kids get bored with music lessons. The wonderful instrument with all the bells & whistle ended up as another piece for furniture nobody at home would touch. Sad but true...

BEWARE! I have a Yamaha Clavinova, model CLP330. A chip on the main board stopped working. Yamaha no longer makes this chip. This piano is well maintained and it still looks like a new piano. Replacement parts for their pianos are only available for a few years. If Yamaha makes the best, replacement parts should be made available. If I buy a new unit I assure you it wouldn't be Yamaha.
