I like how something like this is not really the meat and potatoes of what you do but, you're willing to give it a shot and repair something small like this instead of the customer tossing it and buying a new one. I'm sure it took a bit to find the right tooling to lock it down on the table but, you have the patience to do it. Keep up the great work Ed!

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate you watching and the positive feedback. It is not to bad of a job. A new head would be expensive I'm sure. It was not difficult to fixture. The Comec is a very versatile machine. Have a great weekend.

That machine sure produces a nice surface finish. I’m always surprised because from the sound of the cutter it seems like there would be machine marks. Excellent results as usual.

Hi Ed. The head gasket surface was not as bad as I was expecting it to be. Thanks

Hi Randy, thanks for watching. It was about .0025 with a straight edge. I had worked it down with my file sandpaper technique. I should have taken a picture before. Have a good weekend.

I had a 660 Grizzly until it bruised all my ribs on my right side 😂. It was my fault for acting like I was a kid on the thing. 👍for the video.

Setting up the head= 20 minutes Cutting the head= 30 seconds 😅 Kinda surprised to see 3 intake valves.
@edsmachine934 ай бұрын
Thanks Joshua, it was longer than 30 seconds. 🙂 Setup wasn't so bad. Have a good evening.

First time seeing a 5 valve, that's quite different, are the valves any harder to face ? thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
@edsmachine934 ай бұрын
Hi Donald, I just surfaced the head. No valve job on this one. Customer is lapping them in. Take care, Ed.

Ed - what do you recommend for cleaning up the old gasket material off of a head like that? Rather than gouge it with a roloc scotchbrite...
@edsmachine934 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, scrape it without gouging. I wrap sandpaper around a file and work in a 45° Angle. I have a video on the process and procedure. Have a great day.

The surface to volume ratio is to high for this engine the combustion chamber is to large and serves as a heat sink, that reduces thermal efficiency....flatten the chamber to 15°
@edsmachine934 ай бұрын
I appreciate you watching, if you did. The head cam to my shop to be surfaced and nothing more!. So why would you tell me to flatten the chamber? The video is simply about surfacing a Yamaha Grizzly 660!
