Every person is different. And the world NEEDS CanAm because they have the guts to innovate. But In my opinion the Grizzly has 2 major advantages and both are deal breakers for me. One is power steering. Yamaha has speed sensitive power steering and is flawless with no need to keep changing the setting like others. When you do it right the first time you don't have to adjust it. Major win for Yamaha. And 2 is the true locking diff on the Grizzly. The can am visco lock works great most of the time. But the Yamaha is perfect ALL the time.

Suzuki invented the 4 wheeler. Polaris first added EFI. Kawasaki made the first SxS. Honda made the first 4WD. Suzuki first made diff lock. Yamaha first made EPS. Can Am has been sitting their asses back and carrying on what other people do. They haven't been innovative on anything, they didn't invent anything major, and make no significance in the ATV market.

You realize that can-am has offered a manually front locking diff for a few years now right? Visco-4lok including a front locking diff. Can-ams budget/base models only include the basic visco-lok but all the medium/upper trims includes the visco-4lok manual locking diff. I still prefer Yamaha though.

I've owned both, new kodiak and grizzly. Both great machines but for fun value and a little taller handlebars and seat, clutch I choose the grizzly. I do agree with you i wish better shocks on both but both have good power, if you have a kodiak just put grizzly clutch weights in it and you'll have more throttle response and do better wheelies 😊

I have a 450 Kodiak and I made an upgrade on my tires to the CST ANCLA 6 ply bias belt mud terrain tires. They made a difference plus they were cheaper than the Mudzilla. They still do the job for me going from 25's to 26's and also an inch winder all around from stock tires when I get in mud. I like the difference the Ancla's made for my ride.

Really enjoy anything ATV or ATC. I'm guessing they both have power steering and was there any difference between them, although the different tires would affect that. 5 year old stock tires versus larger upgraded tires isn't much of a contest but that used Kodiak is a nice machine for the money. Got to get a few laps around the shop property for a test ride on a 700 King Quad and was pleased with it, then I came home and rode my 750 Brute Force and it made me smile a whole bunch. The top dog of my fleet.Keep up the great work.

Love the video thank you ,,, I went with the Kodiak 700 because it had a little more low end grunt to it it was cheaper & I do not do a lot of mud , where i live,, I have more hills ,, so far that low end grunt has got me on hills going up ,the hill ,, , to trail ride I feel these machines are wonderful, I have pulled a couple things with this machine I feel it did very well , no lack of any power , I have the base model no power steering, no speedometer, ,it is a 2023 , four wheel drive is great as well had to use it a few times ,, over all I feel it a great machine , I do a ton of trail ride with it , nothing crazy ,, some hills & not the fastest machine but over all it got a lot of power where it need to be , most of the time ,,, love the low end grunt to clime hills , ,, ?? For you what would you recommend for a speedometer on this machine , I would like to get one , ,, please keep up the great videos

The shocks on the 2 are different, and the travel on the Grizz front is 7.6 inches. Seemed more like a tire comparison with a bit of Kolpin advertising. I do really enjoy your videos though, keep it up.

the grizzly with the standard tires feels quite a bit more playful and a little faster accelerating. the mud tire equipped se and xtr seem to get the most attention, but the "standard" grizzly is the better all-arounder simply because of it's tires. the grizzly is one of the most fun 4x4s ive ever ridden. in regard to the grizzly vs kodiak, suspension tuning should be different as well as slightly different clutching. the seat is different, but interchangeable too.

I believe the Griz is 'square" too. 27x10 tires on 14 inch rims all around. Kodiak is 25x10 -12 rear and 25x8 -12 front. I think both have front differential lock. Newer Kodiak 450 does not have diff lock I don't think. My old 2005 Kodiak 450 has diff lock. I usually have my machines for a long time so the extra 1500 or so for bigger tires is worth it.

I just purchased the 2024 Kodiak 700 SE and I couldn’t be happier! Yes I was comparing the two models for days and weeks and I couldn’t really come up with anything majorly different. My needs are, I needed something to plow, pull some trees to clear trails, pull a small trailer, and be able to go up steep slopes under load with ease. Once I spoke to a Yamaha tech who had years of experience in the industry he explained to me the difference between the two from a technical perspective and that’s what helped me make my decision for the Kodiak 700. Once I received the machine I put it to work right away and wow I was amazed how much power it had, low end torque and ease of operation! It handled a 60in plow with no issues at all pushing some deep snow up and over a few hills and then clearing out a wide open driveway. Yes could the grizzly do that of course probably but I also have an old farm cart I use as a dump trailer it’s 4x8 steel with sides maybe weighs around 1200 pounds I hooked it up to the back of the Kodiak and I was able to clear branches and put a few logs in it around my property! That’s a true testament of work in my eyes! All in all I agree with the video it all depends on how you plan to use it. The grizzly is for the hobbyists and the Kodiak is for the farmers! Thank you for the review! I wish I know how to use KZfaq otherwise I’d show my machine in action on my farm! 😅

I use my 2014 grizzly 550 for the 10 acres of maintenance, I have all kinds of bells and whistles on it and it has never let me down. 4x8 trailer of wood stacked 2' high pushes its limits, wood trailer may stop it going up hill but the tires don't stop spinning. It rips up the trail with the best of them. Minor differences between grizzly and kodiak

@@dangriesemer3710 yes I agree I own an 82 acre property and I am all over the woods and going in and out of the fields I had an old Polaris magnum that I got second hand from a local shop and it did good for a number of years but it was starting to show its age and now I just use it as a spare for when my friends and family visit. I did also take some time to ride around on my friends grizzly 700 and there is a few differences between the two, I felt that his was a little wider and taller, and it was a lot faster on the top end other than that tho my Kodiak had a lot more torque.

The 2016-2018 are fine, some motors had a ring issue and yamaha covered it without issue… I actually think they are the best years as yamaha stood behind the product and fixed the issue. A lot of people don’t like recalls… I know of plenty of products that should of been recalled but the company won’t stand behind it. I owned a Nissan titan xd with the Cummins diesel so I know all about this.

Yeah, exactly, I have a 2018. At first, I said to the dealer that my oil level was going down, but no smoking at all. The dealer checked the compression and said that everything was fine. Then, at the end of 2019, Yamaha came out with a TSB to fix that, and no problem since then. They changed piston, piston rings, and liner. I'm a happy camper now. I'll keep that quad for a long time.

And since they don’t have the package then I’d do a comparison with the same size zillas on the machine. Not fair for the Kodiak to be compared to a grizzly on zillas bc the handling and everything is definately affected by the Kodiak having shit tires on it. I’m a trail and mud rider so I just want to know if the Kodiak Is geared lower or if it’s slower just bc it has less power bc Yamaha has better clutches and stuff in the grizzly

Have the same OEM rear cargo box on my Kodiak. It’s a great addition, but they should have made it a few inches deeper to fit a helmet! So dumb! If you go into a store, restaurant etc. you have to leave your helmet on the seat or bring it with you. Even when leaving the bike to go to your tree stand.

Like the Yamaha brand but I only considered Honda or Suzuki when looking for an atv and went Honda because I wanted gears and couldn't find a king quad footshift near me. Got a basic Rancher foot shift and also the recon for the lady with electronic shift. Just don't care for CVT belt drives
@spyder000069
@spyder000069 Жыл бұрын
I was in that same camp. I have a '15 rancher and a '20 Rubicon 520 and had a recon for my daughter. I had bought a yamaha wolverine x2 xtr a couple of years ago for the wife and daughter and its been reliable so I decided to try a Grizzly and picked up a 2023 about a few weeks ago. With that background my initial impressions are that the grizzly has a lot less vibration in the foot pegs and overall is smoother compared to my rubicon. The power of the grizzly is night and day better over my Rubicon 520 and I have a hmf full exhaust and dynojet programmer with extra o2 on the honda. The cvt is very smooth and while I do like the heritage of shifting gears there is something nice about just putting it in gear and letting it be. The grizzly suspension is night a day better than my rubicon. It absorbs pot holes in the trails much better. Needless to say I am very impressed with the yamaha and so far the only points the honda has over it is mpg and the honda can be quieter since you can stick in a high gear and lug it. Also the honda was cheaper. Just my 2 cents.

I used to be the same thoughts, gears only, no belt drive until I started researching the different bikes and discovered Yamaha CVT system and it being number one on the market that no one compares to. 5 years with a 700 Kodiak and I can tell you there's not a Honda utility ATV out there that will touch it. More power. Better ride, better towing and more capability when it comes to actual work. Plus on top of that it's actually fun to ride in the trails.
