I was given this IT 125 as scrap but decided it was to iconic to throw away. I then went on a full nut and bolt rebuild, after 6 months and a lot of hours we now have a working bike.
the tune is FREQ: Dreambody which is my current favourite tune.

Andrew Round wow is it all still as it was as i saw the guy in torbay who bought it from me had a 125 for sale last week on ebay which was a mixture of 175 and DT parts. My friend i got it from had a neighbour that owned that 125 from new but it was seems too noisy and fast for my friend so it was left to rot under a fence panel in his garden for 30 years, only just caught it in time

in our country DT125 is the counterpart name for the bike in the vlog. but parts now a days are hard to find, if ever i find one, price are a bit costly. the throttle, clutch, break cables are examples of it. hard to find are ignitions (CDI, ignition coils, source coils, even oils seals are rare for this 2 stroke model. but if ever someone is able to build/restore/maintains one of this bike. surely will be a headturner in our Country. Nice vlog.

Nice restoration there man of the rare IT125H. ITs are probably the most desirable enduro 2strokes I love ITs especially the H models i rebuilt my IT465H in 2018 which had been sat for 26 years under my staircase its a monster of a bike but unfortunately not for me anymore as I'm getting on a bit so I've now swapped it for a absolutely mint 1981 IT250H its like a brand new bike its also had all the aluminium professional polished swingarm forks engine brackets ect it looks to nice to ride but its going to be ridden in the woodland most days come spring and summer its easier to start and is not as brutal as the 465 and better on fuel. I've only been up the street on it once and ive owned since December 2020 roll on spring time. On a side note i wonder why Yamaha put a J type decal on the 125H and not the square styled one they put on the 175 250 and 465H models? Beautiful example of a IT125H.
@gtisid
@gtisid 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know the answer to the decal question, i initially thought it was a 'G' model but it had a few odd bits on it that indicated the 'H" model. it wasn't until yamaha owners club wrote to me confirming it was an "H" model that it became clear. These were bikes destined for Australia apparently but ended up in UK. The guy i bought it from got it from a local kid who had it since new, there was only 1 off in the local dealers shop. i remember them being on display back in the day at John Pease local bike shop (yamaha main dealers) he had a 125, 250 and a 465 for display...i knew the guy vaguely that purchased the 465.( flipped it first ride and broke his ankle and it sat outside his house for months and i saw it walking to school) The H model had a silver swing arm a different rear silencer and speedo and a six speed gearbox( can't confirm the different gearbox on the G. i managed to source an alloy tank for it too that was a stroke of luck as the plastic one split and in a lot of the pics in video it had a 175 tank on while i waited for the alloy one to arrive. decals all came from wicked tough in U.S.

A very very nice restoration. The IT125H is rare down here in Oz too, I don't think I've ever seen one. This is good motivation for doing the same with my IT250H that hasn't ran since 2004. Just getting all the parts (bearings, plastics, headlight lens etc) is a challenge. I hope I end up with something as nice as yours. 👍

Have to be ebay and probably in the US. Did see one recently. Throttle cable will be the problem unless you can get both together
@gtisid
@gtisid 8 жыл бұрын
There is a company called simply bearings that can get you every seal and bearing on the bike for a 3rd of manufacturers price. all koyo bearings that are the same as standard. Takes a bit of research but saves a fortune if you are doing an engine rebuild. trying to think of the most expensive part i bought on the bike which i believe was the carb and carb boot. mine were totally gone, think i paid around £150 for both parts!! ( after import charges) also the reed valve was £50. All the other parts are 10-20-30 each or some are even pennies but it certainly adds up. There is a UK company called motoduro that keeps a lot of hard to get parts (inc plastics) i would say the hardest part to get would be the chrome headlight surround ( un-obatainium) the light unit is the same as the 175 (78-79) so can be got but that surround, i think i saw 1 in 18 months of looking on eBay! and the throttle cable, but motoduro will make you a replica.

@@gtisid yes, i ended up purchasing a new rebuild kit off eBay (head and piston) and also found some decent condition plastics on OfferUp. I wrapped the seat in a carbon fiber like woven material and had my mom sew in a bezel. The bars were bent but I had a set of used pro tapers and threw them on, the tires were replaced with some wide Kenda’s. I used a uni air filter pod with an adapter and an 01 cr125 carb with smaller jets, as well as repacking the muffler and cleaning the expansion pipe up. I sold it a month after finishing it for a total of $1700, and made $1400 in profit. Since then I’ve been flipping and trading dirtbikes around and in the end picked up an 04 tacoma extra cab with a manual transmission last week as my first car. I’m looking to build (lower) my truck as well as some aspiration mods. 🤟🏾

@gtisid
@gtisid 8 жыл бұрын
Most of the parts come from fowlers of bristol. You would be amazed at what is still available. Cmsl is another place to get part numbers and parts. Ebay is the only source to get larger parts when someone breaks a bike in the U.S. But you have to be careful of rip off postage costs and import charges. This bike has parts from poland canada USA australia france malaysia china and a couple of bits came from the UK. Simply bearings are a good source for all KOYO bearings and any seal you require, It takes a while costs a fortune but it can be done on a budget
