Thanks for the video demo - questions - does the PSR-E373 Headphone / output 1/4 jack lose audio quality / volume when used through an amplifier? Many keyboards without L/R (stereo dedicated) outputs do lose audio integrity, wondering if this is the case with the PSR-E373 also. 2nd question - can you store / save your tailored sounds - especially the layered ones like that piano / strings one you played? Appreciate your time -
@JohnCouplandguitar3 жыл бұрын
Good news and bad news! Bad = When I hook it up to both of my amps, a Marshall DSL1 tube amp and a Stagg Acoustic guitar amp, there is an unacceptable level of hiss at the treble end. Neither amp is of course ideal for a keyboard but they are the best I have. I play in churches so I do not have to provide organ or piano amplification, just guitar. The good news is that it does remember you custom voice pairs without having to install batteries.
@RedEyeC3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnCouplandguitar - thank you for your reply. I also play in church, though not supplied with an instrument - have to provide them. At this time I use a Casio CTK-7000 which has been a fantastic keyboard for the last 10 years. I am hoping that when Yamaha upgrades their PSR-E463 (must be coming soon if PSR-E363 was upgraded last year) - that they will include the stereo (L/R) inputs like Casio does on their identically priced keyboards. I love the sound of that piano - and E-piano on the PSR-373, quite an upgrade -

Do you connect your keyboard to a mixer to get all the sounds to play clear?? I hook this and my Casio ctx 800 to a PA straight from the keyboards and the sound comes out terrible if they’re not stereo I’m guessing
@JohnCouplandguitar Жыл бұрын
I just put it straight into my Tascam 8 track. I have not gigged with this keyboard as I play in churches where there is always an organ, keyboard or piano in situ. Generally the clearest sound is achieved by keeping the keyboard volume fairly low, say 30%, and then bring the volume up on the amp.

Is the volume low in E373? With the volume knob is still half, there is very less/no sound. Is there any issue with the volume?
@JohnCouplandguitar3 жыл бұрын
I would normally have the volume between 50 and 70%. There is however a significant difference between the piano and the organ sounds with the piano being very dependant on how hard you play. Try going in to the function menu and experiment by changing the touch response.

Hi John, nice little instrument for the price. Organs are really impressive. Are you using it in Church service? This is surely a great improvement over its predecessor the PSR E363.
@JohnCouplandguitar3 жыл бұрын
This is only for the house, the local church has a Roland piano. When I go to other churches as the main attraction, rather than the old guy at the organ, I normally use a guitar.
@HubertEtAlice3 жыл бұрын
John Coupland I bet the Roland is a very fine instrument. As for the guitar you’re right it probably gives a more modern feel to the service. Some church organs are nice, though. In our church (where I don’t go very often to be honest) it is a Baroque organ.

@JohnCouplandguitar3 жыл бұрын
I have used the 373 with various programs in my PC. Adobe Audition recording software, Pianoteq and Organteq virtual instruments, all without problems. I am using the keyboard's Aux input for the PC which saves having speakers on my desk. The headphone socket is standard 1/4" (6.3 mm) but I do not have a pen drive so I cannot help you there.

@@JohnCouplandguitar Hello John. Regarding recording. Could you recommend a set up for a beginner recording- i.e. easiest to use/understand software, with what kind of Laptop/Desktop? Baring in mind, I will be recording other instruments and voice, as well?
@JohnCouplandguitar3 жыл бұрын
@@darrenturner8913 Hi Darren, I have tried recording to my PC with mixed results, what works on Monday rarely works again on Tuesday! My preferred method is to use an 8 track recorder such as the Tascam DP-03. I then transfer the song to my PC, 'Normalise,' the song to radio volume and then top and tail the unwanted background noise and I leave 2 seconds of silence at the end of each song. Running a PC in the recording room may result in the microphone picking up the noise of its cooling fan. The built in mics are only for grabbing an idea, they are not good enough for the finished product but don't spend a fortune otherwise you will pick up the neighbours TV etc. Have a look at this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/acxngsafsNvFdI0.html

I never use rhythms unless I am making a recording that needs them. Generally it is piano, pipe organ or classical guitar. Although I own a couple of nice classicals, composing on the keyboard stops me getting stuck in a creative rut.
