Welcome to Damn Fast!💙 Today we have the 2000 Yamaha YZF R6 on our show! In this first Damn Fast Series we have our own and first superbike! The famous and classic 2000s Yamaha R6 with the screaming 600cc engine... Well it used to scream... That's why it's a project bike!
In this third episode we inspect the clearance on the R6 pistons, we check the wear & tear and make sure that all the seals in the engine are still healthy. We did found that the headgasket it blown so we have to replace that. Also we check if the cylinder head with the 16 valves are still airtight.
What we will find out in this project? We don't know... we DO know that it's gonna take a lot of time and we will be learning loads of things on the way! So why does the R6 don't scream anymore? Well as you might already know the first generation of Yamaha R6 have multiple problems, but the biggest problem by far are the poor cylinder sleeves. This R6 suffers from great compression problems and we are determined to fix it. It's not going to be easy and financially it's not the greatest decision, but hey... we do it for the fun (and of making more KZfaq bike content). This 2000 Yamaha R6 is an insane bike with a high revving 599cc four-cylinder engine delivering a 123HP or 90kW at a whopping 13.000 RPM!! The R6 is also pretty light with a dry weight of only 162kg. This R6 is equipped with an insane Akrapovic Exhaust which makes it extremely loud at higher RPMs. So now we have the Yamaha R6, but previously we already had an insane Yamaha FZ1 with a 1000 cc engine, some Yamaha R6s', and loads of other superbikes and nakedbikes to choose from! Nicky from Damn Fast has recently got his full motorcycle drivers license, so this spring we will unleash a whole load of motorcycle videos for you guys.
