If that's what people are looking for. If they want speed and they don't mind the stance an R7 is a great bike. Svarts and even Vits weren't designed for what the R7 is supposed to. Pilens for me.

This comment right here is why I am back on a smaller bike. I went with a 401 Vitpilen. Amazing handling and since I am not a track rider, enough power for the streets.

I’m normally a Yamaha guy but the cbr is a 4 banger while the r7 is a twin. The r7 is a sweet bike but I think I’d go for the honda on this one.

Main reason I think this is a good idea is cause Yam was comparing it to the RS660, which isn’t a bad comparison but the Aprilia outclasses the R7. Considering the target audience for the CBR and R7 are people who pretty much want all the flash of a super sport but want it to be more of a daily, something a little softer, then these two make the most sense to be direct competition.

Or xsr. Either naked. They're a bit lighter than a clad sport bike.

@@PastelitoPapi No I didn't ride the Vit. The Svart is my 1st bike. I knew going in as a new rider that upright naked bikes were made for me. I actually passed up a new Suzuki SV650X that was even cheaper because it was too aggressive. I'm sure the Vit is just as fun as mine, if not more.

How is the maintenance on it and reliablity

Mine failed after 40 miles, then got an Oberon to replace the oe slave cylinder.

The brakes are excellent, I’m talking about the clutch slave cylinder. It’s a definite known weak point….

I’ve done 7 Magura slave cylinders in 3 years in my bikes. Swapped all the bikes to Rekluse slaves no troubles yet. I’d try it off the hop if I got a street bike with a magura. Don’t trust that thing

@@adolfshitler Tank leak was recalled as well. Again these have been discontinued, if you don't have one already I wouldn't be looking to pick one up until the Duke 890 based 901 comes out.

Tank leak was on the 2019 and 2020 701 models, both Vit and Svart, but is fixed for free by the dealer. I talked to my local Husqvarna dealer earlier this week, and so far he had no news on a replacement for the 701. Not before 2023 is his guess. All focus is on the Norden right now. The 401 and 125 will get a new colour scheme for 2022 (pretty nice one as well, got a sneak peek), but that's about all the news you can expect for Svart and Vit next year. According to this particular dealer, that is :)

a vitpilen 901 would not be comparable in terms of chassis, since it would be that of a trail, the norden 901 have you ever imagined a CBR with an Africa Twin chassis?

They will undoubtedly release a r9 in the next year or two. I am patiently waiting to get back on a sportsbike and the mt09 was one of my old favorites

@@IronGuardLegionnaire I just don't get how everyone is getting excited about modern bikes when a R6 made 125hp a R7 makes 75hp the R1 makes 200hp> and a R9 will make 125hp. The tiger sport 660 makes 82hp and a FZ6 made 96hp if you compare a Honda cb360t with a new cb300r the older bike is faster and better value. But I know it will not handle as well. But older bikes didn't handle that well. We didn't realise at the time though! We used to still ride them flat out on those narrow tyres. Often a 3.25 front and a 3.5 rear Avons mostly.

The squid in you will appreciate how wheelie happy and how quick the vitpilen is. It’s got all the torque down low and plenty of power up top. will power wheelie in third (with traction control off) And you can really lean it over hard. It’s an unassuming monster in the canyons. Which can and has been a blessing around cops and Karen’s as they don’t perceive it quite the same way Going against my friends R6 in the tighter canyons he was actually having a little bit trouble keeping up because he couldn’t keep it in a high enough rev range. You can just hang out in second and third and make it look easy. There’s so much torque/power in second and third right off 3k rpm that it’s almost too much for a beginner. It’s very much a sport bike in disguise. Also up/down quick shifter while not perfect is great once worn in a bit.

@@AndsoIdid I have an 19' Vitpilen 701. All I've done is remove the cat and set it's suspension and I hang right with, or even beat down 600cc sport bikes Everywhere but the freeway. Granted I have track experience, and that means a lot. I'm saying in the right hands a 320lb bike with 80hp and serious torque is faster than a 600 you have to rev the piss out of.

Yeah, and the Vitpilen is lighter and faster then the svart. Probably not a lot faster acceleration as it's the same engine but way better tires and set up for sport riding. On a tight enough course I'm thinking the Vitpilen hangs with that R6. That's right, I said it!

You're almost correct. Svart looks cooler because of the rubber thingies on the tank and the 18 inch spokes and pirelli flat track tires.

This is not possible, since its 75 hp and 53 lb ft on the crank. Also not possible to get 320 lb, since Svart weighs 367 lb wet stock.

Yuri G. I'm taking about the Vitpilen not the Svartpilen. The Vit has less stuff on it, and is sightly lighter. If one removes the heavy catalytic converter and stock can, pointless ugly mirrors, the rear license plate mount, and other stuff it lightens it up a lot and then when tuned adds significant power. So, it's not impossible, far from it, I have living proof.

Cb650r owner here. I totally agree. The build quality of the mt07/r7 to the cb/cbr650r is unmatched. The cockpit of the r7 is so uninspiring.

get yourself a used street triple r. much nicer build quality, quicker, and sound cooler too. I started out on one, fueling was perfect.

I feel ya, I've done the barebone maintenance on my R3 and it's still going strong.

Mines been back to the dealership for issues 3 times in 3k miles. Twice the slave cylinder, once the fender recall. I've never had an issue with Japanese bikes. I've owned many.

@@trunktoyz no because I dont want to pay for it. The dealership said the replacement is made by Oberon, but he also said check the valves at 30k, so grain of salt.

Same as any other naked bike. Or no bike if you can propell yourself up to speed another way. I find the wind hitting my legs rather annoying on naked bikes above all else.

the R7 doesn't have a sporty chassis or engine, that's a fact. the svartpilen is sportier with its ultra-rigid chassis and its engine is able to push longer than the CP2 with minor tuning. the R7 is just an improved Mt07 with a sporty stance

much sportier position and shorter travel suspension. exactly, in addition there are some who have mounted a Honda MC18 poly caréngae there which suits him like a glove

Consider the Hord Power intake for the R7, it makes it rev out so much better. Out of any mod I've put on anything with a motor, it had the biggest impact I've ever felt

the best I've seen on a CP2 is 83hp (against 90hp on a 701 stage2) the R9 should have a much better chassis and a sportier engine 👍 I hate to see it come out

in terms of chassis the svartpilen is closer to the R7
