Yes shutting the fuel off in hot weather a little before stopping is the way I deal with it.

2007 Midnight Star has always done this. Dealer said to just cut off fuel before stopping. BS! The problem is the carb gets hot and boils the fuel in the bowl. It's a design flaw and have never found a true solution.

Jay Vee I have the same bike and it does the same thing. I’ve had a few people tel me this exact thing, it’s just a flaw and there’s not much you can do to fix it. I’ve also heard when you top off your bike with gas and then garage it, the internal pressure will force it out as well.

BTW, I can assist you to fix this problem if you haven't already, there are some secrets to clearing out the carb passages, not just un-sticking the float bowl, in order to get your bike to idle and run as good as it normally does!

I get gas gushing out of the air filter when I straighten the bike up. Is this what you are talking about? It seems to come out of the carb throat!

I'm having that exact issue today. Can you help me with troubleshooting?
@mymm63276 ай бұрын
@@tgnupe2 Not sure if this is a current happening to you, this post originally was 13 years ago. I did have a similar condition, gas gushing out of the carb mouth when I took the air filter off. I rebulit the carb by disassembling it and clean all the rust I had in it, then rejetted...well I then got gas coming out of the excess port on the left side as you look at the carb from the air filter direction. I can't tell you how I fixed that becaus eItook that carb out of the bike about 30 times (it was under the Covid lockdowns) and the excess gas port stopped at one of those times...it may have been when I adjusted the plastic floater (it really didn't seem too out of level, but I re-checked it and adjusted it a bit). I also (and still have) a float needle "o" ring leaking that I work around by shutting the gas petcock every time I finish a ride. My channel has many videos of me tinkering with the carb and the super rich condition I had. So, I would say; take it apart clean it thoroughly I found good info here: www.roadstarclinic.com/articles/carb-manifold-airkit/stock-carburetor/5296-rejet-your-carburetor
