I had a 2008 Suzuki GSXR1000 for 10 yrs. I put 30,000 trouble free miles on it but with getting older, by then I was 60, I found I couldn't bend so well to get on it. So I sold it and my old 2013 HD FatBob and bought an HD SGS and I'd like to say nice things about it but I can't. So today I pickup a run out model GSX-S 1000F. Not a hyper naked but it;s basically the same bike with a bit of plastic. With the addition of some Givi bits I now have a sports tourer that doesn't weigh 800lbs and jars your back and kidneys every bump on the road.

I have to agree with Slim Ryno. Yammie, you really paid attention to what I think matters in a bike. I own one of these bikes, love it and I am 54. Yup, an old guy. I’ve had several GSXRs, including a non-restricted Busa, not forgetting my Bandit 1200. Suzuki knows how to engineer a bike and it was cool to see you recognize it in that bike, as the video progressed. Great channel, excellent and accurate knowledge every time I watch. ** I like the commentary over radio during the ride. Very clear.

Guess I am one of the people yam talked about who don't really need/want rider modes, tft's and so on. At least it does not make the bike that much more desirable that I'm willing to pay a lot for it. To me the simplicity of a bike like this is a feature, and not a negative one. I think there definitely is something to be said for an uncomplicated "pure" motorcycle. Oh and I totally agree, a "standard" inline 4 is just awesome in terms of feel and sound!

Spot on Yam, I have a 2018 gsx-s750 and I love it. These are not about any one part being the show stopper but these bikes are more about the sum of the parts working really well together. This marks my 20th year riding (Fz1, R6 etc) and I absolutely love that I can still have a blast with little compromise in the corners and still enjoy a long day 300+ miles without feeling like I just got off a torture rack (R6). @Dr Darren It is fast if you want to ride it fast but it can perfectly ride slow without any problem. On my commute I often ride mine smooth in top gear from 25mph up to whatever speed you want. There is enough torque to stay in top gear only if you use the throttle properly (opening slowly) , less stress on the engine and economy improves as well. Great universal road bike. Wouldn't change it for any other bike.

This bike is very underrated imho. What people don’t realize is just how damn comfortable it is. It is not a touring bike, but it is the most upright and comfy sportbike out there for long, hour + rides. I owned a 2020 Z900RS before trading it in for a 2020 S1000F. The seating is identical, other than the foot pegs being higher and sportier, but the gear box is buttery smooth, the chassis is infinitely more capable, and the engine is just awesome. Plenty of power for me.. Great sound on stock pipes. I also wanted the new Ducati supersport but it’s too expensive for such a slow bike, seems like a sportbike for ladies.. I want to try a Tuono, but if you’re looking for a fun to ride sportbike that doesn’t kill your back, this is kind of the only one. They need to make more naked super sportbikes that sit upright AND are fully faired. If you’re like me, this bike is perfect for your needs, and it’s kind of nice not having HAL level electronics. Oh yeah, S1000F is super fugly especially with only one running light (:

I’ve done 24,000 k’s on my GSXS1000F. It so represents what Suzuki is all about. Everything just works and works well together. The power and the way it’s delivered. The slick gearbox and ratios. Confidence inspiring brakes (when dialled in fluid wise etc). Super stable in the corners. It is just a well sorted machine. That’s it’s proposition vs all the tech laden competitors. Do you want to ride a sorted bike where everything flows, and just get on with riding it. Or do you want to spend your time playing around with hundred’s of settings on your TFT dash and convincing yourself all the tech makes things better, because it’s there.

Classic i4. My (younger) brother switched bike, an MT10, with my friend who got a ZZR1400 Kaw, for a short sprint run. They went, and i saw and heard them - and later my bro said that he: wasnt impressed at all ! - by the 1400. He had, what? In his 10? More torque? Nah... He just did not know how a i4 differ from an 270° X-plane, or how the powerband in an i4 work, so he did not rev it. In his mind, the 10 is always king. Ignorance. (Edit: i actually thought the MT-10 was boring. My pillion too, at ~200+ > different strokes for different folks :) )

I have the '18 and love it. For general street use (99٪ of the time), it's perfect. Back then, you could get one new typically for like $8-10k on closeout. Swapped the shock for $650 and I got myself a canyon ripper that's actually comfortable. I also put low supermoto bars on mine for like $80 and it's crazy fun (among all the other upgrades I'd typically ever want to do such as full exhaust, ECU flash, rearsets, QS, heated grips, cosmetics, etc, and still kept it under the cost of the next supernaked). Yeah, it's not a $30k Duc, but if you can't have fun on 150hp, enjoy your lighter wallet and I'll enjoy my bargain beast.

Oh man, I'm THAT guy... I really loved our Vulcan S, and I love my naked Gixxus. I'm 40yo, and It's like I'm deliberately trying to be uncool, even more now I've fitted a screen and bag rack. But, I do love how much the other (younger) naked-bike-boys I hang with hate it; Especially when we're an hour into a ride & they're already stretching, standing in the saddle or dangling their hands while they're not fidgeting with a backpack. My 2020 model is now my daily. It's comfy, practical, and plenty of fun in the twisties. It would be nice to have that flex worthy power at the top end sometimes, but the one upgrade I really would love is cruise control... Which I'm pretty sure even the new models still don't have. Love your videos and reviews, even if the bikes I love here in Aus for their practicality are the ones you love to roast. Cheers Pappa Yam.

It’s a darn nice bike for the price it’s not going to win anyone over who was looking at a Yamaha, triumph or anything like that but for anyone on a budget who wants to ride with anything their buddies might have this bike is a darn good bargain. It’s gearing felt pretty short which made it fell like it had more down low power than you would expect out of it. I’m sure anyone who buys one would love their bike.

Most riders aren’t advanced enough to use or need 200hp. The gsxs1000 is the best value and performance you can get. Unless you are going in a straight line dragging on the freeway the gsxs is the better bike. I’ve been riding for 45 years and can wipe up 99% of riders on the weekend road and twists with this bike. Great torque spread. Comfortable. Gadjets. Electronics. Garbage you don’t need. Buy this bike. People dont realize how close these bikes are in horsepower bone stock to the more expensive Super sports , this one is rated around 150hp which it tends to show on the dynos here on YT but many new Super Sports that claim to have 200Hp or therabouts end up falling way short in Dyno testing in many cases nearly 40 hp short and even after having their ECU flashed they are still way short of advertised but not the GSX-S .
