I bought every piece of gear in this video WITH MY OWN MONEY (except for the Haga Arai). I chose, tested, and used this gear before making this video and NO ONE PAID ME TO SAY ANY OF THIS.

I ride with full gear always. Helmet, gloves, jacket, riding jeans, boots and an airbag vest / backpack (helite h-moov). Sometimes it’s annoying to gear up but then I remind myself that I increase my survivability with a few percentages 🤓

Neck gators are also great for protecting your neck from bug hits and sun. Always have it on for Street, ADV, and dual sport riding.

Very happy I just got an Alpinstars tech air 5 and on my first ride with it at about 10 mph I hit a 4 inch deep pavement grove that threw me about 15 feet I landed on my chest, and because the vest had inflated I actually bounced and walked away with just slightly sore ribs and a pulled groin. My riding jeans did fine and my Fox Creek leather jacket with ghost armor came through without damage. I sent the vest to SeaCoast and the did a full service and sent it back the same week for. $179 well spent money.

I think that one of the most important things that people do not speak about is how lazy most people are to do their own fully fledged research on brands, standards, tech and models of said brands. The next is the importance of fit and finish. How it fits you, specifically and how it is finished, meaning how well is the item actual built, not how good it looks in design.

I personally believe the He-lite air bag vest is better since it's the only one that immobilizes your neck and doesn't require being sent back the the factory to 'reset' the inflatable function.

11:50 I have these lava gloves. They are honestly not warm enough under 40 degrees outside, and they let a fair bit of water in. Some of the outer material has started to fray in less than a year of use.

For the pants use the gentle cycle in cold water when washing, hang to dry. They will remain crispy. Great vid 👍

My personal picks. Background: almost a decade of street riding exclusively in Nepal, and now in California Jacket: Alpinestars fit me best, but I seem to like leathers on dainese or Spidi jackets, really high quality. Astars leather seems to wear off easier. Pants: RST techpro jeans (for the street) it is rated to CE level of AAA, has level 2 protection and has stretch lining in the knees and hips. So much more protection and much cheaper than overpriced brands for riding jeans such as dainese or even revit which offer low level of protection, skimp out on armor to level 1, or don't even provide armor in some cases. Gloves: Many many choices. Gloves are really overlooked by riders, but it is usually the first thing that touches the asphalt when you go down. Knox handroid, Racer high speed gloves, Five RFX race gloves are awesome protection. they have good bracepoints that a lot of gloves miss out on. Leather quality is really top notch. Boots: really depends on feet shape and have to try out different brands to see your preference. I Like TCX boots for track riding. Dainese torque for overall protection and walking practicality, Helmets: so important to get the right size and shape that conforms to your head. Arai is definitely king. HJC rpha 1: love this helmet,fits my oval head perfect, is very comfortable, cuts through wind like butter, materials are high quality, and also is FIM rated. Shoei RF1400, too heavy and hurts my pointy ears. AGV is lightweight and comfortable, visors scratch too easily,expensive to replace, vision fromt the helmet is awesome. Finally, one protection that people skimp on earplugs! foam earplugs are okay (if you use it right! you dont just stuff it in your ears, you have to squeeze it, put in into your canal, and let it expand) Cons: can be painful during long rides since your ears wont be able to pressurize to the outside environment Im researching earplugs with a filter, replys are welcome.

Hey Yammie I loved the video and you've basically saved my life with your video on NBT and such. One question that I haven't been able to get answered looking at all your gear video reviews or videos similar is what type of brand would you recommend for riding shoes? Me personally I'm just starting out and I would prefer to get some riding shoes before I get some big boots and I haven't seen much anywhere that talks about what the best brand/style of riding shoes are the "best" so to speak. Love Rev'it gear. Just recently turned on to it and it hasn't disappointed. Get yourself a pair of really good quality waterproof gloves. Rev'it and Dianese make outstanding gloves. Wore Arai for years but switched to the new Shoei R-1400 last year and really like it.

Me personally, Helmet: AGV Pista GPRR, HJC RPHA1, Shoei X15 but have a sweet spot on Shoei. They're comfie, quiet and can ride with it all day. Jacket: Ixon, Dainese, Joe Rocket Gloves: Dainese and Revit Pants: Komine, Dainese Boots: Augi, it's a Taiwanese brand and I don't think it has reached american shores yet. I got 3 of them already. 2 riding shoes and 1 race boots. The build quality and durability is awesome and a lot cheaper.

I love these boots so much. I’ve done 65k miles in them. I took them to a shoemaker to get to sole redone after 40K miles. They are, 6 years later, still water tight, breathable and comfortable as hell. I will buy the same again if available. Not sure when lol. I ride a 3 season RST full textile jacket and matching bottoms with all the protection. In the summer I wear jeans and a lighter jacket with the same full protection. I only have one helmet, rain gear in my back pack at all times, three gloves for different seasons and that I believe all one ever needs. I do like the airbags; however atm the price outweighs the benefit for my wallet.

Yamm, all that considered, most of your gear cost around 700$ piece/gear aprox, for all of us NOOBS that dont want do spend so much make a top full equipment for summer/entry level gear, BUT in BUDGET!! I like your jacket, it looks like it keeps your arms in a sort of fixed position (cool on a track probably). Currently wearing the following LS2 Advant X Carbon Modular Bluetooth Cardo Forma ADV Tourer Boots - Black LS2 Helmets Swift Gloves - Black Aerostich R3 Standard w/TF6 armor - Hi-Viz with Black Abrasion areas (I have full armor in plus chest, spine, and hips). This armor completely disappears from your awareness, but is much more substantial than the orange stuff, and also has hard armor on the surface of it. Base Layer (including glove liners and super thin balaclava for winter) - this is the least expensive layer(s), but it does the most work daily. The Buffalo Wool Co. Trekker Boot Socks with Merino wool & Bison down (believe it or not I wear these every time I ride, even recently at 98 degrees and they were as comfortable as at zero). They are worth every dollar if you can get them. With my particular set of gear, I like it to wear it all year. Some people switch to perforated gear in the Summer, but what I have figured out is with the air flow that I get through the Aerostich, it is best to have a decent moisture wicking layer (no cotton) on all the time. This creates a massive cooling effect even when it is very hot and humid. You have basically no sense of being hot. It is very counterintuitive, but it works extremely well. For winter, I add a middle layer which is pretty hefty and I just close all the vents on the Aerostich. Winters in TN are pretty mild in terms of snow, but can get close to zero frequently. I come out of the backpacking and Kayaking world, so I tend to make use of some of the ideas from there in the motorcycling world.

I use my SMX-5s not only for street and track days but also for Enduro riding. Just a great all around boot

You should check out the 3M E-A-R TaperFit Foam Earplugs they have at Northern Tool. They have a 32 NRR rating and come packaged in pairs in a 200 ct box so you can put a bunch in a pouch or bag and they won't get dirty and you will always have two as long as you have an unopened pack.

I've put those boots on my wish list. But I have 3 pair of TCX boots (no matter how much I look at others I keep buying TCX boots) so I don't really NEED more boots. I like boots that don't look like I'm walking on the moon, those Alpinestars definitely do look like that, but next time I'm at the gear store I'll try on a pair.

personal tip... use quick ceramic detailer for your helmet visor it will keep it cleaner and you can remove any insect with your hand easier when riding

Rokker is expensive but have some great pants. Short of leather, Draggin' Jeans offer the most protection. They're pretty close to leather.

How does the airbag vest work in hot weather?

I work parts at a dealer and I always tell people "Safety is a sliding scale. It's up to you to decide where you fall on it." Another thing that people, even more so new riders, don't think of is: Gear isn't "Just for the crash." You ever take a rock or big ass bug to the knuckle or shoulder at 80mph on a highway and you'll wish you had gloves or a jacket on.

I always liked the idea of buying an Arai helmet, but they do not offer any internal fighter pilot sun shade option. I don't want to pack different visors for sun and night, so i went with a Shoei GT-Air 2 instead. Not sure why Arai refuses to use internal sun visors.

Tryna find a quality quiet long oval helmet or longer intermediate oval with good venting, good wind buffering and speaker pockets, but no one makes a long oval and if they do theyre loud as all fuuuuu. The only Aria that comes in long oval is the signet and it is the opposite of quiet. Great helmet but loud af. If anyone has any suggestions. And no I dont want a scorpion or an icon. The build quality is trash

I watch ''CHiPs"every day and they didn't wear all that crap, crashed ALL THE TIME and were fine so that's what I do.but I don't crash all the time.I just say a prayer and ride safe with faith in the lord.praying to be safe then preparing for an accident isn't faith btw.put all your gear on and come ride around south Louisiana in the middle of July when the temp is 101 and the heat index is 125 with 99% humidity and you'll either be shedding all that crap or going to the emergency room for heat stroke.just isn't practical here to bundle up before every ride.winter time I wear a fair amount of stuff but not because I'm expecting to crash, to stay warm.
