She claims that she ordered Chinese fireworks from her cousin in San Francisco and believes someone must have hid the drugs during its shipment. Yancy agrees to travel to California and investigate the shipping company responsible for sending the fireworks.

I used to buy fireworks for Independence Day from the Chinese across the bay from Frisco in Oakland Chinatown.

In the '50s I used to buy Orange Creamsicles from Knight's Garage in Level, MD. In the '60s I got frozen chocolate covered bananas from a Konditerei on the Hauptstrasse in Heidelberg. In the '70s I favored the White Dutch Loaf from a bakery in West Point Grey, Vancouver. Alas, none of these contained opium.
