Yangon to Bagan by Train February 2016 Myanmar

In February 2016 travelling by myself by train from Yangon to Lashio. Stopping at Bagan for 2 days, went on a Hot Air Balloon. Then onto Mandalay stayed 2 days then up early at 3am for the train to Lashio. Stayed 2 days then to Lashio Airport for a flight back to Yangon, then fly to London England -- Eric.

Wonderfull train journey........i was in Burma 1 year...2015.....but no train journey experience...

Hi, yes it was really good and I have also travelled from Mandalay to Lashio. Previously I have crossed Canada by train and travelled by train in Peru South America -- regards Eric in England.

Hi, I enjoyed the train very much -- seventeen hours on the sleeper train from Yangon to Bagan and another seventeen hours -- not on a sleeper train from Mandalay to Lashio. I was very pleased with the taxi drivers that drove me from my hotel to the train stations. They came into the station and made sure that I boarded the correct train because there are no signs in English ! -- Eric.

the sign board is scary, not even english-readable numbers or times. going to try to repeat your journey in a few weeks

Hi SniffyPoo, taking a Taxi from the Guest House where I was staying -- to Yangon Station. I left early so the English speaking Taxi driver did a tour of Yangon. I gave him a big tip -- I didn't ask him but he came into the Station with me and made sure that I boarded the correct train because there are I think six platforms ! really glad he did because as you say there aren't any English signs ! I did the same in Mandalay -- this was 03.30 in the morning and the Taxi driver took me to the correct train and sat talking with me until the train was ready to leave to Lashio -- I don't think this would happen in the UK ! -- I hope you have a Great time -- Eric in England.
