I'm no marxist or even leftist. I'm possibly a traditionalist so I can't say I agree with much of Mr Varoufakis says. But, I respect him as a intelligent and thought provoking person. What he was threatened with is demonic and scary. If they can do it to him they can do it to anyone.

Absolutely, and the thing that got Yanis in that situation was being right and attracting attention. And as the past decades have shown, you can expect no protection from your government against your bank.

Behind high finance, which obviously profits off regional and international conflict, you also find violence targeted at dissident voices. The larger violence is just a fact seen; whereas, violence towards individuals is repressed (if not known specifically), but given the world logically intuited. Mr. Varoufakis is just letting you know it does exist. My wild guess is that this occurs. And from my experience, when drawn out, it is much more common than even guessed at, that is, should one risk, even if only to oneself, the question involving what is the actual relity. After all, force and fraud are of one flesh. (The best bit of ironic humor regarding force and fraud involves a Monty Python skit where a General is being threatened by two mobsters).

Dealing with banks is like dealing with the mafia. What you should also recognise is that every business person out there and to a lesser extent home borrowers face the same consequences every day. Some are forced through the legal system while others are treated in a different fashion. Nothing new
