@@Veepee92 "able to receive any attack arrangement, timing, position and angle". That's the difference between beginners and masters. I tried to approach an internal master with leg hit or punches, and then I would be intercepted or deflected. There's no preparation, they made it into a reflex-action to switch to the desired mental and physical state the moment I approach.

Very true, I have experienced this before and you just can't do anything. The feeling was similar to being on horse and then the saddle opens up and Rolls to the side and you can't do anything but fall of the horse. No set-ups, no prearranged moves. Nothing Works against real internal kung fu master.

@@Veepee92 You make some good points in your post. My experience with Chinese martial arts is that any valid kung fu style will have defensive techniques against all of the types of attacks you mentioned. I doubt that some of these arts developed throughout hundreds of years and more importantly survived until today lacking relatively simple skills such as defending against a leg kick or getting to an opponent who maintains distance so as not to get hit. Of course, I am not denying that there are obvious problems with these traditional fighting systems, not so much with the styles themselves, but more so in the practitioners who pop up to represent them, but that has to do with how some people train these arts rather than the arts themselves. I practice Wing Chun - it is a non-Yip Man, mailand Chiinese lineage. The training includes iron-palm; iron body; chin-na; sticky-hands (both grappling and the striking varieties); contact sparring, whose concepts includes cutting the distance with an opponent who maintains distant so as not to get hit and other practical methodologies. There is even ground fighting (not wrestling) in this lineage, but I have not reached that level yet. All I am trying to get across is that these arts are very rich, profound and if you will only get the full benefits if you train them with an actual master and in the way they were meant to be trained. The master in the video is from a real lineage and his own master, Chee Kim Thong was a real deal master. I have had the pleasure of experiencing this art by touching hand with another master and the fact is, when they touch you with those skills, you are DONE. They just dominate you. I recommend that you also have a look at The Martial Man's interviews with Adam Mizner, because I believe that his art uses the internal elements. The demonstrations are great and eye-opening too. By the way, I live in Brazil, the home of BJJ and where I live there are many gyms where fighters train this great art, as well as Muay Thai, wrestling and MMA. I am not taking anything from these arts, but we live in a a very rich universe of ideas and possiblities, which we should all explore.

@@Veepee92 Look, you and I mostly agree. However, Chee Kim Thong was legitimate grandmaster multiple styles of kung fu and at least one of his disciples has participated in sports combat. The skills being shown in the video are just part of Five Ancestor Fist kung fu, a style that also contains stand-up grappling; hand and elbow strikes as well as kicks. However, as you correctly implied, techniques and concepts have to be tested in combat to be made effective. Personally speaking, I don't know wether Yap Boh Heong's school has combat sparring or not, but still the art he teaches is more than just concepts and theories. On top of that, to my knowledge all legit kung fu styles contain strikes, grappling, long and short range fighting techniques, even Wing Chun which is sold as a short-range fighting system has long range techniques, if taught properly. Incidentally, I was never taught to block a low kick with my hand, but with my legs. Advanced students are taught to block with the leg and counter-attack with the same blocking leg. And again, one acquires the practical use of these skills through first chi-sao and then live sparring. I guess we can agree that it is not the styles in question, but HOW they are taught and by extensión wether they are taught by legitimate sifus.
@DJAraRealSalsa
@DJAraRealSalsa 4 жыл бұрын
@@Veepee92 Well, I also agree with your studying a technique remark, but would like to just clarify that combat testing, should be part of that studying, which in the end results in fine-tuning the effectiveness of a given techniques to given scenarios. I would put the phenomenon of 'dubious' and 'inauthentic' demonstrations in two categories. The first one is marketing and the second and more important one, methodologies that are not well known. I have touched hands with an internal master from the Chee KIm Thong lineage and believe me, once contact is made, your body is dominated. Now, if you feel it personally, that is one thing, but if you see on video as a part of a demonstration, without any deeper explanations, then it will look unauthentic, dubious and fake. Also, you can built up internal energy in your abdomen and torso. How do I know? Because I have done so, through standing training (which some non-cma people think at best is Good for 'relaxation' or at worst, silly) and other chi-Kung exercises. Of course, the real trick is not to accumulate that energy in your torso (which also makes the área resistant to impact), but to move it to your limbs. I am not at that level yet, but I am sure that Yap Boh Heung and Adam Mizner are. That is why earlier on I recommended that if you had the time to then look at The Martial Man interviews with Adam Mizner, that include demonstrations and explanations of the concepts involved, which I have watched multiple times to better absorb the info, which I was already famliar with from other sources. Of course, all of that is no good if you are not trained to apply it in a live situation. The same is true for Iron Palm skills and even the mastery of advanced techniques. So, we are back to the point that we both agree on and that is, it is all in the way these arts are trained. Anyway, I am very well aware of the serious problems within the CMA community. I mean I cringe everytime I see one of those matches that the kung fu guy bends down to block a low-kick with his hands. Although having said that, this type of tactic can be used to set up a counterattack, but none of the patsies who end up getting KO-ed by MMA-ists had any such plans, because they just look clueless, when punches ane kicks are raining down on them.

I wonder if those who attended seminars actually learn something that can enable to acquire neijin. Of course there's value in that experience, feeling master's jin and how it works. But I guess that these skills can't be learned in a week or so. Would like to hear from people who was there after 1 year or so to know if the practice gave results.

Luo dexiu is a master in baqua zhang, his senior student and once teachers assistant, tim Cartmell is black belt in jiujitsu who won world tilte and 7 times champions in California jiujitsu tournament. Tim Cartmell, his student Eddie Bernal is 5 win, 0 loss in California MMA in amateur dominating amature MMA soon to be professional MMA fighter. That 2 proofs that show the benefits of internal Chinese martial arts. Tim has studied Xingyi, baqua, taichi(sun style, yang style, Chen style), sumo, bjj, and many others. His way of doing bjj is based on tai chi use of body and control opponents. There is huge difference learning bjj from a teacher who has internal Chinese martial arts back ground and a teacher with no back ground. The former makes students to be able to control him and opponents faster while later May just muscle out for many months/years.
