Regarding your worm casting issue, are you applying too much water? Your soil near the driveway looks saturated in your video. All healthy soils contain worms, however they usually stay down away from the surface. If soil is waterlogged, this drives the worms upwards for oxygen. You can’t control rain, but you can control your own watering. The soil should be MOIST but not saturated. Another thing to consider is whether you have a drainage issue and measures you can take to better regulate soil moisture. I know you use a core aerator, however, you could consider getting a garden auger bit for your drill approximately 50mm (2 inches) diameter, and drill a series of holes 30cm deep, with a separation of 30cm. You then backfill the holes with washed play sand to improve drainage. You’d only do this in the areas not draining properly, and you’re responsible for ensuring you don’t drill into underground services such as water, gas, electricity. Epsom Salts contains magnesium sulphate, and the sulphate acts as an irritant to worms. Anyway, hope you find a solution that works for you. Cheers! 🇦🇺👍

Thank you for the tips... So I have poked holes to help with drainage but it's just too much rain right now... We had a good 3 day stretch of sun then it's gonna rain tomorrow again 😂 I'm def going to sand level here in a couple weeks... aerate first and fill in with sand for sure and like you said that should help! Getting used to this new renovated lawn I have new low and high spots since the full Reno level... on going process but that's what we do this for right 😂 strive for perfection while learning our craft! Thanks again my dude appreciate you! ☺️🤙🏾

Got some snow on my main lawn. I learn from managing turfgrass golf greens when I get a thin ice layer. We clear the snow off the ice and let the ice melt if not we crack it off with an aerator. That’s what happenin in massachusetts with the weather. Keepin an eye on desiccated areas that have no snow. Managing my knock out rose bushes also best time a year to prune and put bedding to insulate the plant

After the last video, you convinced me to get started on my season. Broke out the corded sunjoe. But left the rake attachment on. Only because my fescue was so matted from the snow 2 weeks ago. But will switch over to the verticutter for the next round.

Your videos are great, you're fun to watch!! Just moved from a northern state to the south. Need to fine southern lawn nuts 😮. Have you tried a soil test or getting in touch with your local or state agriculture extension office? Thanks and good luck 🤞

I use my blower point blank and gently use the tip of my shoe to try to initiate a roll on the worm casting... it's working but it's SOOOOO tedious. I start at one corner of the lawn and make my way down before mowing. Every 3 days. So it looks 99% casting free... but If you step on 1 accidently or roll over it with a reel mower It's instantly an ugly mud spot.

Hey YardBrah, what rubber boots are those?
@YardBrah

These are the taller boots from Lowes... not even $20 🥳 I was wearing the dunlop ones but the Dunlops are shorter I like the tall ones I get less granular products flinging around into my boot 😂🤙🏾

Just use a drag mat and don't kill the worms.
@YardBrah

wait... drag mat to get rid of worms? oh to knock down the worm castings... the thing is they are moist so even if I golf rake them down it squishes... it's just too soggy right now 😩😂🤙🏾

I stay in nc, I missed my aeration and seeding, so what would u recommend I do this time in February too feed my tall fescue?
@YardBrah
@YardBrah 5 ай бұрын
The back back is tall fescue Kentucky 31, I'm about to do a tall verticut and start spoon feeding more often... I'm not too familiar with NC but it looks like the growing pattern is very similar to WA.... Do a tall vertical then Put down some ammonium sulfate and a well rounded fertilizer together like 16-16-16 Lilly miller... then an application of ironite. This trifecta should hold you off for a good 6 weeks. Once those 6 weeks are up you can start spoon feeding in a backpack sprayer like I do 18-18-18 every other week, and liquid iron in between those 18-18-18 applications. ☺️🤙🏾

what do you use for mole crickets? If you have any
@YardBrah
@YardBrah 5 ай бұрын
um... just googled a mole cricket and can never unsee that... I will be having nightmares for the entire season 😂 funny the product I just put down in this video that contains zeta-cypermethrin SEVIN insecticide will take care of those suckers! I've never been in contact with those little monsters but a insecticide regimen should get rid of them.. here's another list of products that get rid of them from Clemson: "For Home Lawn Applications: Insecticides and baits are available for mole cricket control in residential lawns, and these may be purchased at most garden centers, feed and seed stores, and landscape supply stores. These products include granular and spray insecticides with the following active ingredients within three insecticidal classes: neonicotinoids: imidacloprid or clothianidin, organophosphates: trichlorfon, synthetic pyrethroids: lambda or gamma cyhalothrin, bifenthrin, beta cyfluthrin, zeta cypermethrin, or permethrin." Hope this helps! Good luck with the aliens in your lawn! 😂🤙🏾
