This workshop is a hands-on guided divinatory and ritual practicum. Every detail of it is designed to facilitate a clear and strong connection to the Tao, the source from which you'll receive a profound revelation by the practicum's end.
Historians often date this method to some time between 500 BC and 200 BC, with 500 BC being one of the earlier mentions of the method and 200 BC when more of these details of the process were fleshed out.

Thank you for putting this video together, I love using the stalks. I feel deeper connected with the ritual stalks versus coin tossing. Really appreciate you bringing the deeper meaning and esoteric practice.

Wow, hail priestess of the Yarrow stalks! By framing it as what it is; ritual, you completely blow the dust off all the little steps required in the ancient process~ I can absolutely see you holding the light and dark of the Tao in your hands. So wonderful, so powerful, so alive.

Thank you for this! I read something about this in your book, I Ching The Oracle, but I had a hard time understanding what to do from the verbal description. You are so generous with sharing everything!

Fantastic tutorial !!! Thank You for your GENEROSITY !!! I just received your book and used it for interpreting the hexagrams I received in this online tutorial reading. I was amazed at the specific accuracy when I looked up my Hexagrams in your book. Incredibly insightful -- not only about the question I posed, but also about my character.

I've only ever used the coins method, and have always been curious about the yarrow stalks. I've also only ever used the I-Ching Workbook by R. L. Wing that my grandmother gave me when I was a kid for interpretation. That combo has provided an incredible amount of insight over the years. Your book will be my first swim into the deeper waters of I-Ching... I'm excited to dive in!

thank you for this. the symbolic references are wonderful and seem important. but i'm confused about something: i've watched or read three other tutorials that differ from yours in one way: after the 1st stalk is set down and the 49 are first divided, they take the 2nd single (pinky held) stalk from the pile other than the first counted pile. in other words using your terminology, they take the initial pinky-held stalk from the heaven pile and then proceed to count fours from the earth pile. apparently both of these methods are mathematically functional, but what about the symbolism and tradition?

Hi! I'm quite curious about the table for the sums that translate to the resulting lines in the yarrow stalk method versus the coin method. While other creators on KZfaq seem to follow the same sequence of the yarrow stalk with the coin method, however in your book indicates that the number 7 represents a Fixed (Unchanging) Yin Line, and 8 represents a Fixed (Unchanging) Yang Line. Honestly the coin toss reference table (7-4) made more sense seeing as all tails would be Yin, so 2 of 3 tails, would probably mean Yin as well. Could you clarify this difference? Thank you!

I like the coin method better than this because it seems like You can choose to grab a unbalanced proportion of sticks IE "cheat" to obtain an oracle You want. But I suppose You can do that (cheat) with the I Ching in any situation which is just another point of wisdom the I Ching makes.

Aww this brings me back to your old I Ching course (?) in which you learned casting Hexagrams with Yarrow Stalks.... was it a course? A workshop? Don't remember, but I still have the yarrow stalks I ordered out of the UK. I'll try this!

@@BenebellWen Always! Still debating over getting the new STK edition.... my first edition is still one of my faves and is the most direct and accurate deck I own. Very special and the quality is just chefs kiss. How long can you order the newest edition? It's still a pretty big investment for me, so I need to plan in advance!

@@MrKitharo Oh no worries at all-- I am hoping that those with SKT Rev 1 won't feel any pressure to get SKT Rev 2... the second printing is essentially the same as the first, just giving those who didn't get a chance to buy the first to get their own copy.

@@BenebellWen ah I don't have any colored version at all, I still use the old, outspoken and mysterious first first black and white STK :-) that is why I'm considered the Revelation edition because your art looks so stunning and if the STK REV is anything like my dear old STK 1, then I probably want it. March is good to know, so maybe I can gather some money to gift myself this one 😀

I have been conducting divinations with the I Ching for decades, and not once have I used incense or a lit candle. Accuracy alone is my only consideration. Yarrow stalks give you skewed divinations. You will get better divinations with methods that are not skewed. The coin method gives you divinations that are not skewed. When you divine with playing cards or tarot cards, you have an equal chance of dealing out every card. The mathematical odds are even for all the cards in the deck. Not so with yarrow stalks. For example, there are 5 chances in 16 of having a yang line. But there are 7 chances in 16 of there being a yin line. And there is 1 chance in 16 of their being a yin moving line, but there are 3 chances in 16 of there being a yang moving line. The probabilities are skewed, and so you get skewed readings with yarrow stalks. But with coins, there are 3 chances in 8 of having either a yin or yang line. Etc. If you were more familiar with English-language books about the I Ching, you would know that. From my perspective, you seem not to have done your homework.
