Khamzat is from Chechnya and Khabib is from Dagestan the republics border each other. They have beards like that because it is the Sunna (Tradition of the Prophet Muhammad) Muslim men are encouraged to have beards because we believe it was how all the prophets looked.

Its not that the opponents don't get a "fat paycheck", the contracts for what they recieve don't depend on opponents, unless you are the main event and get percentage of the PPV. It was risky when he was coming up because losing to a unranked fighter will make you go down on rankings and that might affect your future

The wolf is a Turkic culturally symbol, they brought it to the caucasus just like the bush that Khabib always wears it is called „papak/kalpak“ you can look it up in Wikipedia just search for „papakha“…Turkic tribes ruled over this areas even today still the influence is very big and they mixed with the people there and left a big culturally mark, even khamzats sons name is of Turkic origin „sungur“ it means hawk…for example the name of the country in Russia „dagestan“ is also of Turkic origin „dağ” means mountain and the Stan ending is taken from iranic tribes which also influenced Turkic languages means city/country.

@@Titiseefighter yea, you mean the qumuqs/kumyks/kumuks…sadly many many of them are now living in Türkiye and Azerbaijan since ottoman and Crimean khanates collapsed. Also sadly they mixed with other Turks and most of them don’t speak their accent anymore in Türkiye and Azerbaijan…just about 500.000 are left in dagestan today.
