Nearly three years ago, so-called Islamic State fighters swept through northern Iraq, where the country’s oldest ethnic minority were living - the Yazidis.
Many of the men were shot, while the women and children were kidnapped, taken as hostage and raped.
The Victoria Derbyshire programme’s reporter Fiona Lamdin has spent a couple of days with a small group of women who have been resettled in Germany, and are trying to rebuild their lives.

BBC did a horrible job translating I speak Arabic and I can tell she expressed more pain , suffering, and fear then what was translated

I was raped every time I fall asleep when I was in my childhood it got to the point where I attempted self- harm so bad and I had a fear of sleeping at night I’m traumatized and suffering from severe depression anxiety and ptsd. I’m 19 years old now so I hopefully no one will have to go through this pain.💔

As an Arabic speaker I can understand the words she chose..and I can tell you translation took away how painful those words were…these people will pay the price…we will be fools if we think that the pain they cause is separated from their lives and that they are in power…couldn’t be further from the truth…those devils are in greater endless pain and they deserve it..only speaking about the pain in this life not the afterlife..god will not let that go

She is strong for having gone through that. Noone expected her to not be wounded, to not be broken by such a horror.

When she said "You probably think that I am strong like a rock but I wanted you to know I wounded inside. I have my pain and it's like 100 death." Literally breaks my heart.

Such horror and grace in one telling. The survivors are incredible, and the people who are helping them are heroes. It fills me with hope to see them safe and seeking to be happy again. I wish their pain had never existed.
