It is a heartbroken song. Isabella is about a man who has to leave the woman he loves (Isabella) because of the difference in their culture and religion. But even though he lets her go, he still hopes that one day they would find a way to be together. I would say Isabella is one of the first 'rock jiwang' song released in Malaysia (jiwang = melancholy/sentimental) Rock jiwang is still based on rock music, but they're a bit mellow in terms of its progression and the lyrics usually talk about love and heartbroken. From my perspective after watching the version with Ramona Rahman and M. Nasir, in the movie, "Fenomena", Isabella is about a Eurasian girl who is half British and half Malay, who retreats to the east coast of West Malaysia to savor life before an unknown illness, which is fatal, takes her life. In the meanwhile, she wants to get M. Nasir's character's daughter, who is suffering from heart disease, a chance to survive, far exceeding her own chances at life. At the moment when the family takes the girl to London for treatment, Isabella succumbs to her illness after the concern wherein her name is sung by Amy Search, who acted as M. Thank you for appreciating Malaysian music Yazik. It’s sad because the barrier for us to be globally known is not only language but our market as well. Despite having great singers and musicians, there’s nothing much we can do because our market is really small (our population is only 30 mil +). We can’t even compete with KZfaq views because of that. The only way to push our talents outside is by doing what Yuna is doing. Go and live in the States and try to get them to listen to you.

The greatest Malaysian rock vocalist is Awie Wings... my honest opinion.

Search have been relevant to Malaysian music industry for 40 years. Malaysians never get tired of their songs! Amy the lead singer is 64 this year..he & Search have just did a concert called Konsert Endemik in June this year. They performed 22 songs in the 2 hours concert.

This guy and siti nurhaliza are what keeping malaysia and indonesia from going to war at each other

My opinion is Amy (the vocalist) is more of a Steven Tyler of Aerosmith than Freddie Mercury. I think this is the edition where Malaysia officially left the 80s music/sound and the songs sound more modern. There is a very clear and distinct sound between Francesca, Zaiton and Ramlah (very 80s sounded song) with Search and all the next AJL winners.
