I absolutely love seeing people discover Wintersun for the first time and react with such jaw-dropping surprise to all the different parts, melodies, and compositional layers (upon layers), that went into making this gorgeous masterpiece. For me the transitions with Jari's range from growls to clean vocals is just flawless. And wonderful Kai...like a human Machine Gun! The stories their songs tell is just as amazing. A true 'gallop off on a quest' across snow-swept wintery landscapes, this song has always filled my heart to bursting with love and pure enjoyment. One of the most epic songs you will ever hear in metal. I saw an interview where Kai Hahto was asked: - Now that in Nightwish, how come you don't do that incredible stuff you did on Wintersun? He laughed and answered: - You don't do things because you CAN, you do what serves the song. Also, The Bassist Jukka Koskinen is an official Nightwish member now. So ... I think that sums it up 🤘😎🤘.

Nice. I'll second the recommendation that it's time for Time. Their bassist Jukka has been a touring session bassist with Nightwish for the past year (replacing Marko who quit end of 2020) and was just announced as a permanent Nightwish member.

Actualy in start it was a harp and in middle folky section it was them electric guitars with piezzo picups to grab the accoustic sound but given they are still steel strings you get that sound i think

The bass player, Jukka, took Marko's place in Nightwish. And Teemu, with the green guitar is now in Megadeth.

Jari is missing half of one of his lungs, which makes his vocals even more impressive. And he learned how to sing pretty much on his own.

My interpretation of the lyrics is that they are purposefully vague to be the standard heroes journey to allow the imagination to roam with what the song means to the listener. I feel like a lot of Wintersun lyrics follow this style to allow the lyrics to be a subjective experience. Kind of similar writing style to TOOL. Also, since only one other person has mentioned it so far, you need to do Time next from the same session. You'll probably like that one more and it's arguably the better song.

Time is a bit more melodic in the vocals, but still with plenty of heavy 🙂
