In this video, we explore the liberating structures recommended by Ryan and Todd for effective team retrospectives. They highlight the success of using the 1-2-4-All structure to solve problems, Ryan favoring the TRIZ structure for quickly exposing issues and Todd suggesting Eco Cycle Planning, Critical Uncertainties, and W3 (What? So What? Now What?). The key takeaway is that the success of these structures depends not only on the structure itself but also on how it is facilitated and its intent. Experimentation with different structures is encouraged to foster meaningful, deep conversations within teams. For those looking to gain more experience, Ryan and Todd recommend checking out the Liberating Structures website and app for valuable resources and guidance on facilitating more complex structures effectively.

I love TRIZ too, I agree that you can get to the point really quickly and effectively but, as you pointed out, it better to evaluate the level of safety of the space we are creating. It can get also get ugly pretty quickly. I once did a TRIZ activity between Product Owners with different levels of experience, as a teach back moment, and it was a blast.
