I understand that the Masoetric (sp?) Alepo are both much younger than the LXX, when one takes where Yashua Quotes the Tanakh the LXX is closer to what He said then either the Masoetric or Alepo state. Many have shown that the Masoetric has had many changes to it, to remove where Yashua Quotes to something else so the Masoetric won't validate Yashua the Messiah. Also it is weird that when one searches "Paleo" it comes up with actual Paleo, but also some try to say that the Otiot or Pre Cannan "Pictograph" Hebrew as Paleo. Otiot / Pictograph "Beyt" appears to turned 1/4 turn and now is used as the "Pey" of Modern Babylonion Hebrew. There are a couple other Otiot that have been changed to Diff letters in the Modern. Otiot when it was used the "U" was a sound and a early letter to be used for Ew, Oh, type sounds and both W and V came from the U via errors as the Double U had them become too close and the W came to be. Then later the U was written too sharp and the V was invented. The Modern Hebrew has several Yiddish (Native tongue mixed with Hebrew) in it. The "W" sound in Germanic Yiddish comes to be the "V" sound. Many "W" words in German end up sounding like a "V" sound, especially if it is at the Start?

You will not find the "v" sound for the "waw" in any of the ancient abjad semitic languages, like Aramaic, Phenecian, Akkadian etc., Aramaic which was spoken by Jacob for instance. Deuteronomy 26 explains him as a "a wandering Aramean." Aramaic does not contain the "VAV." The only language you find this "VAV" is modern" Hebrew. That speaks volumes to this subject. Classes teaching Biblical Hebrew in the Hebrew University and universities across the planet explain this, it's common knowledge. I have spoken to a few professors from the Hebrew University and they all will freely admit the "VAV" is a late rendition and was originally a "WAW." I learned this is my second class of Biblical Hebrew. If scholars "shot from the hip" then Biblical Hebrew classes would teach the "WAW" as a "VAV." I find it rather interesting that NG's professor and mentor (and person that gave him his "small part" in the Dead Sea Scrolls as NG puts it in his radio program) "Emmanuel Tov" (an actual Dead Sea Scroll Scholar) when asked about the name Yehovah, discredited it's plausibility. He surprisingly responded by telling us to inquire a "Hebrew linguist" as this was not his expertise. When we inquired at numerous universities from Cambridge to the Hebrew University, they all told us to contact Stephen Fassberg (a major contributor to the Encyclopedia Judaica) at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Here is his response regarding Yehovah... He states, “The pronunciation you mentioned [i.e., Yehovah] is a mistake. The Hebrew consonantal text is YHWH and no one really knows how that was pronounced in Old Testament times. At a later date (the latter half of the 2nd millennium CE) Masoretes added vowel signs to the consonantal text. Whenever the Tetragrammaton was written, they added the vowel signs of the word ‘Adonay,’ which means ‘My Lord’ - there was a taboo on pronouncing the Divine name and one was supposed to read the word ‘Adonay - my Lord.’ Much later some started reading the vowel signs together with YHWH and came up with the nonsensical word Jehovah" Regarding the Waw he explained: “There is no doubt that the original sound was w and not v. Sometime during the history of the Hebrew language there was a shift from w > v in pronunciation, probably already during the Mishnaic Period” (email correspondence). NG is out of his league and does not have the credentials, study, nor experience in the field of Hebrew linguistics. His education is in Biblical studies. I truly believe this whole "Yehovah thing" is merely junk scholarship returning to the errors of early Vatican scholars conjured up by NG to sell books and create chaos.

Good information and presentation. We went to the Hebrew linguists a few years back to address the "Yahuah" (yet another attempt at being different) pronunciation. Dr. Hugh Williams a professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford, England, wrote back and said such a pronunciation would "empty the name of any known meaning, which would be improbable." As we know, the Name of Yahweh is a verb of existence, indicating "Eternal." It is also a proper noun, the personal and Sacred Name of The Heavenly Father. Of interest, in all of the Hebrew linguists from Harvard to Yale we wrote to (about 12 in total), none wrote back saying, "Yes, this other name(s) works just fine." Didn't happen, because Yahweh has already been determined to be the best pronunciation (transliteration) by the most well respected linguistic authorities. Hard to deny, but new and upcoming self-studied Hebrew linguists (I'm being just a tad sarcastic) are trying nonetheless.

"Yahweh" is a "transliteration" not a "translation" The definition of the word "translate" is to express the meaning or sense of a word or text from one language into another language. The purpose of "translating" words or text is so that the meanings of words or text that are spoken or written in one language, are understood by people who speak or read another language. However, the definition of "transliterate" is to write or express a letter (or letters in a word) of one language into the "closest corresponding letter or letters in a word" of a different alphabet or language, and thereby "create" and "introduce" a "new" word in the language into which the transliterated (i.e. newly-created) word has been introduced. The "transliteration" of letters or words in effect "creates" and "introduces" new letters or words into another language, which do not have a corresponding letter or word prior to the creation and introduction of that "transliterated" letter, word of text into the other language. The obvious advantage of using accurately "translated" words, rather than newly-created "transliterated" words, is that the hearer or reader of the "translated" word already knows the accurate "meaning" of the "translated" word, which is usually not the case with "transliterated" words. Therefore, unless a word (or a very small set of words), which ACCURATELY express the "meaning" of the original word, does not already "exist" in a particular language (e.g. English), a word that is "transliterated" from the other language (e.g. Hebrew), should NOT be used. Why? Because it obscures the "meaning" of the original word, and is thereby detracting from or diminishing the proper "understanding" of the original word or text. It is therefore completely unnecessary! As it applies to Bibles that are written in the English language, the "vast" number (i.e. almost all) words in the Bible have been "translated" from either the original Hebrew/Aramaic words of the Old Testament, or the original Greek words of the New Testament. In the vast majority of cases, the original Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek words have been "translated" into "corresponding" English words that have the same meaning. In cases where the original word(s) could not be "translated" into "corresponding" English word(s) that accurately conveyed the meaning of the original word (i.e. because suitable word(s) or phrase(s) did not exist in the English language at the time of the translation), it was necessary to "transliterate" the "original" word, and thus "create" and "introduce" a "new" word into the English language. To be meaningful, the newly-created (i.e. transliterated) word would then need to be clearly defined in order to be "meaningful". However, in a far lesser number of cases, the "original" Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek words have been unnecessarily "transliterated", thereby "creating" and "introducing" new words in the English language, even though a "corresponding" word in the English language, which "accurately" conveyed the meaning in the English language, already existed at the time of the "transliteration". The translators could have, and in my opinion, should have, "translated" the "original" words into English, rather than "transliterating" them to "create" new words and "introduce" them into the English language, which was completely unnecessary. The folly of the unnecessary use of "transliterated" or "falsely translated" original words in the text of the Bible is illustrated by the widespread use of the English words "God", "Lord", and "Jesus". The original Hebrew word אָדוֹן (mostly in Genesis) has been "transliterated" into the English word ĕlôhîym, the phonetic spelling of which is el-o-heem, and the anglicized word is "Elohim". The phonetic spelling in English best reflects the audible sound of the original Hebrew word when it is heard or spoken. However, the ACCURATE "translation" of the original Hebrew word אָדוֹן into English is "Creator". Another original Hebrew word יהוה is "transliterated" into the English word yehôvâh, the phonetic spelling of which is yeh-ho-vaw in the English language. This transliterated word has been originally anglicized in some cases to "Yehovah", and "Jehovah"; and in more recent times revised to "Yahweh" because the spelling in English best reflects the audible sound of the original Hebrew word when it is heard or spoken. However, the ACCURATE "translation" of the original Hebrew word יהוה into English is "Eternal Self-Existent". The article "the" may be included if appropriate before "Creator" and "Eternal Self-Existent". The problem with using the "transliterated" and anglicized English words "Elohim", "Yahweh", "Yehovah" and "Jehovah", is that these words do not convey a "meaning" of the original Hebrew words, which are: - "Creator" (in the case of the anglicized "Elohim"); and "Eternal Self-Existent" (in the case of the anglicized "Yehovah", "Jehovah", or the more accurate "Yahweh"). In the case of the original Hebrew word אָדוֹן ("transliterated" and anglicized to "Elohim"), the use of the words "Yahweh", "Yehovah", and "Jehovah", is not even the correct "transliteration" (let alone an accurate "translation") of the original Hebrew word! However, an even greater problem by far is that the aforementioned two original Hebrew words, which are "transliterated" and then anglicized mostly into "Yahweh", "Yehovah", and "Jehovah" (and hardly at all or ever, into "Elohim"), have been "falsely translated" into English words "God" and "Lord", in almost 7,000 instances in the Bible! The alarming thing about using the names "God" and "Lord" to refer to the correctly "translated" (as distinct from "transliterated" and "anglicized" names "Elohim", "Yahweh", "Yehovah", and "Jehovah", rather than as applicable, the "Creator", the "Eternal Self-Existent", is that the names "God" and "Lord" are associated with the name of the pagan deity (god) "Baal". Therefore, when referring to the "Creator" and the "Eternal Self-Existent", it does not make any sense to use the "transliterated" and "anglicized" English words "God" and "Lord", that have been derived from the name of the pagan deity (god) "Baal". The original Hebrew word בעל is "transliterated" into the English word ba'al, the phonetic spelling of which is bah'-al, which has been anglicized into Baal, and the meaning of which in the English language is lord, master; owner, possessor, proprietor, ruler, commander, husband (as in keeper). The anglicised word "Baal" is used for foreign or pagan deities (gods), rather than for the anglicised "Elohim" (meaning the "Creator"), or the anglicised "Yahweh" (meaning the "Eternal Self-Existent"). In an "attempt" to correct the above-mentioned inconsistencies, irregularities, and mistranslations, some English versions of the Bible have "transliterated" the "original" Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek words, thereby "creating" new words in the English language, rather than simply ACCURATELY "translating" the original Hebrew or Greek words into English words that already exist, and that are well-established, well-understood and meaningful! It should be noted that the "transliterated" word is simply a "new" word that has been "created" in the English language by using the closest corresponding letters of the "original" alphabet or language, and the spelling of the newly-created word is also based on the "phonetic" pronunciation of the "original" word from which the new word has been created. The "transliterated" Hebrew/Aramaic and the "transliterated" Greek words should not be used. Why? Because they are not as meaningful nor as widely understood as the already well-known English words. To illustrate the point further with another example, the original Hebrew word אור is "transliterated" into the English word "or" or "ohr". The same original Hebrew word is "translated" into the English word "light", and the vast majority of the English-speaking people already know the "meaning" of the English word "light". So why use the word "ohr" in place of the "light"? There is nothing virtuous about using a "transliterated" Hebrew word. Furthermore, the "transliterated" word "ohr" would then need to be defined so that its meaning in the English language is understood. The word "light" is already meaningful and well established. Therefore, there is no point in unnecessarily "creating" and "introducing" the "transliterated" word "ohr" into the English language. It serves no purpose, none whatsoever! Exactly the same applies to the ACCURATELY "transliterated" and "anglicized" word "Yahweh", or the NOT SO ACCURATELY "transliterated" English word "Yehovah" or "Jehovah". I would like "all" English versions of the Bible to substitute the words "God" and "Lord", "Yahweh", "Jehovah" and "Jesus", with the words "Eternal Self-Existent", "Creator", and "Savior" as applicable. Why? Because in nearly 7,000 instances in the Bible, that is the correct "translation" of the abovementioned words from Hebrew words into English "Yahweh". In conclusion, the widespread use of "transliterated" words that are "unnecessary" has great potential to completely obscure the true meaning of the "original" words and text of the scriptures in the Bible, and thereby detracts from and diminishes the proper "understanding" of the scriptures in the Bible. We should not be focusing on the correct spelling and pronouncion on the "transliterated" word (name) "Yahweh"; we should name Him according to the "translated" name the "Eternal Self-Existent", or "Creator" where applicable, because that word/name is "meaningful" in the English language. Funny how supporters of Yehovah claim that they now have much more evidence. Also, there is the YEHO fact or found in many Hebrew names, where thet incorporate part of the divine name into a person's name eg YEHOshua . Surely what is important is that we should use the name , whatever the standard version of it is in our language. Most are happy to use the name Jesus when we certailnly know that was NOT his name. Likewise, we talk about Peter, Paul. John, Andrew, Mary etc. We have no problem using the English version of these names, so I see no problem with using the standard English version of YHWH.

Please reply to this, you say that yehovah is grammatically impossible but Judaisms top grammatical expert of the 17th and 18th century says that the vowels are shva cholam kmatz, how can you state that when the top grammatical expert says that? Also grammatically yaweh is clearly not correct because the a at the start turns into a e as seen in every single biblical name with gods name at the start of it

It is frustrating that scholars like Nehemiah Gordon sincerely tells us that the NAME is pronounced YEHOVAH . You are telling us also sincerely ,the correct pronunciation is YAHWEH. The English KJV has both JEHOVAH and the shortened form YAH. For a topic as important as this , one would expect the scholars would get it right!

'Kay. I'm not opposed to Yahweh. Jews writing in Greek in the 500 years BCE wrote it as IAW (IAO) and 1st Century Christians wrote it IAIO and variations of that. It seems clear they all reckoned the first syllable as YAH but also followed by an O. It could have been Yahowah. What this video is failing to demonstrate is solid inscriptional evidence from antiquity, and is rather just repeating several opinions of modern scholars. The Assyrian inscription is curious but I'm dubious. I've never heard of such an inscription...if that's legit, I would love to see it! As for Yehovah....it's pretty well established the 6th character of the Hebrew Alphabet was Waw and a W in antiquity.

You are doing good on understanding that the vowel points are a modern thing, and not to be relyed on for proper pronunciation.. However Jehovah and Yahweh are both in error. It is true that most Jews want you to be in error, because they don't want God's name pronounced. The correct pronunciation is "YAHUWAH".

Many names of people and places mentioned in the Bible contain an abbreviated form of the divine name. Is it possible that these proper names can provide some clues as to how God’s name was pronounced? According to George Buchanan, professor emeritus at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., U.S.A., the answer is yes. I had always thought that the oldest copies of the Hebrew Bible - the Torah and Tanakh were the fragments found at the Dead Sea. Dated to be written in 250 BC : Dead Sea Scrolls written by the Essenes. But today I learned that there is a much older copy written on a Silver Scroll dating to 700 BC. Rabbinic Judaism calculated a lifespan of Moses corresponding to 1391-1271 BCE. So this scroll would have been 700 years after Moses and 700 years before the time of Jesus. 700 BC - Ketef Hinnom Scroll (Hebrew) In a tomb at Ketef Hinnom in Israel, the oldest text of the Hebrew Bible was discovered. The text, inscribed on a silver scroll in the old Hebrew script dating to the 7th Century B.C., is the Aaronic blessing (Numbers 6:24-26), which begins, "yeverekh'kha YHWH Vayishmarekha" (May Yahweh bless you and keep you).
