That Hot Dog on a Stick was there when I was 4 years old in 1958. We lived in Santa Monica for a year when we first came to California from New Jersey. We were living in a small apt on PCH and my mother would take us kids down to beach just about every day. That was my first experience of a corn dog and it blew my little mind that such a thing existed. Loved watching the guy make the dogs thru the window, I think there was a platform at the order window that you could watch from. I still love corn dogs and wish there was a Hot Dog ona Stick in my city. Great memories.

ive only been to santa monica pear a few times its a great place and during the day is s great place for a walk and for a bike ride orjust a good place to go with friends.

Love this video,i was there in 1996 to see Will Rogers state beach and the lifeguard headquarters where they filmed Baywatch. I thought it was beautiful. Thankyou for another interesting video.

I did this exact walk back in April all the way from the end of the pier to Venice Beach...and back. Our feet were really sore by the end of it. The highlight was watching a Quincinera and. Bah Mitzvah being celebrated at the same time opposite each other in the middle of the pier.

The Santa Monica Pier looks much better than it did when you did the walking tour a couple years ago when everything was mostly closed due to the pandemic! It's great to see things back up and running again. I'm surprised not many people go all the way to the end of the pier. That's one of the things I always like to do on a pier - I always have to go to the end!

Santa Monica Pier may be the best pier today, but back when my family live there, the best was P.O.P. Pacific Ocean PArk. I can't fathom why it failed, for a few years it drew more poeple than Disneyland and was called by some the Disneyland of the Pacific. No doubt before your time.

Fun fact, Hot Dog on Stick started on Santa Monica Beach, I saw that on and episode of either "California's Gold" With Huell Howser or "Visiting with Huell Howser" I have a Rte 66 story, when I was about 8 0r 9, my dad and I went out to see my grandparents (his parents) in Perris, Ca/ My grandmother asked my grandfather to go to Stater Bros for her , so my dad drove and when he parked across the street from the grocery store (for non so. Californians who may not know what Stater Bros is) and left me in the car. I saw all of these hot rods(classic rebuilt cars that are "souped" up) coming pass me. It was some kind of car show on Route 66 on its way to San Bernadino . I didn't know it then but as I got older and listened to Nat King Cole"s classic song "Route 66" where he mentions SB , I put two and two together. Back when I was going to community college, I applied for a job assisting in supervising, setting up/ cleaning up after children's birthday parties. I ended up not taking that job because it conflicted with my school schedule at the time . Casa Del Mar, Shutters on the Beach and Lowes Santa Monica are some of the most well known hotels on the beach, and have the prices /night to prove it.

I was there today, and there was a young man sitting on a bench with some books. He repeated “I wrote this” over and over, and it appeared he may have had cerebral palsy, or similar. (Apologies if my diagnosis is way off). If anyone knows his name, or knows if his book is available anywhere else, I’d love to know. I was caught without any cash, and didn’t want to waste his time, but I’d still like to know what he wrote. Thanks.

If your in the UK, rent one from one of the mobility shops,that sell disability scooters ect.That's what we did.They will put it on the plane for you along with your luggage.

My family have been walking on that pier from it's beginning in 1909. when my family first moved to Santa Monica the population was around 400 people in 1870. It'd so sad that Santa Monica is full of Liberals any more
