Another great video. Question, ever think of putting a camera/GoPro facing you on the rear of a biker you're following? Just to give the viewers another angle/view while you're giving your commentary? By the way, I do like the post ride analysis. Great idea.

Yeah, thanks! so, the 100 is surprisingly more capable than you would think... without riding it it's hard to understand how a 100mm bike with a stepcast fork could handle the speed and terrain it does... crazy good little bike that I honestly think a lot of people I see out on the trail with big bikes could be better served with the sb100

I knew it was going to be good coming down so I put it through the paces climbing everything I could find and it really impressed me way more then I thought and I still have a smile plastered on my face from the descending wow. hey buddy, I am about to pull the triger on the 150... Would I sacrifice a lot when riding not so steep trails and going up? I hit jumps and drops, steep rock beds....and I thats why I imagine the 150 its better for me (curently on a hightower lt 160 font 150mm rear) but I hesitate con the 130 all rounder claim. But, I don´t clock my climbs, I do clock my downs. I have no shuttles or any park rides, I pedal up for all my downs. I just read from someone saying the 150 rides "dull" in regular trails. I just wanna make the right choice. Thanks buddy

New ending format very useful and entertaining. Can you do a comparison of the sb 100 vs sb 130 or sb 100 vs new santa cruz blur. Keep up the great work.
@myideas8548
@myideas8548 4 жыл бұрын
If this helps at all: I rode the Blur TR as well as the SB130 on the same trails in Santa Cruz, CA. The Blur is really a full-on XC rig. It handles great. Is stiff as hell and feels unshakable for what it is. After riding the SB130 though, unless you are racing, I see no reason to get something like the Santa Cruz Blur TR. My times were almost identical on the flats and uphills between the bikes and the SB130 had meatier tires.. While the Blur could be hurled downhill at crazy speeds through the chunk, the SB130 was infinitely more capable and frankly just a lot more fun. The perfect trail bike. Super fast up down and all around with a huge margin for error vs the Blur. Unless I lived in the middle of a corn field, I'd get the SB130.

Yay to post ride de-brief! I really love the cross comparison of bikes in other categories. Something a lot of people forget is this, not everyone looking for a bike is set on a specific style/travel, they may be tossing between the two if similar enough in some respects. Exactly like Tyler, where a more experienced rider after more speed downhill over an all day or less experienced rider is something someone can take on board. Being a car guy, this bothers me in car comparisons also, always EXACT same category when someone (me haha) might be interested in a slightly different category with the same price point. Loved the stationary footage showing you guys pelt down sections, great perspective! As always, keep up the good work :) Maybe try time those Ads a little better :P

40 mph!! No wonder you never like any of the bikes I like! :-) Seriously, the commentary after the ride was helpful and added useful information to the overall comparison (much more useful than "feels good" while on the ride). Overall, I think comparisons between bikes are the most useful content of a review. You try to do that where you can, and this head-to-head and after discussion was a great extension of that. The comment about choosing depending on the speed of your trails was very helpful and I think spot-on.

I completely agree on your take on speed and the "size " of the bike. I enjoy big chunk and technical drop at slower speed and small 5-6 foot rolling jumps (think Moab terrain). I went with the Sb130 and have been super happy. The sb150 was more bike than my riding style demands, I felt it was overkill in the amount of travel, if I was more aggressive in speed and rode more park and faster stuff than the sb150 would be a better choice..

Excellent video as always Jason. One thing i can't understand is why yeti hasn't grasped the fact that 2.5- 2.6 wide tyres are becoming the norm on 29er bikes. Both the 130 and 150 have maximum 2.3 width on the rear! My 2019 stuntjumper and my 2017 trek slash easily has clearance for 2.6 tyres on the rear, which btw gives a shit load more grip in a typical uk wet winter.
@mtbyumyum
@mtbyumyum 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, interesting isn't it. Yeti is headquartered in Colorado with very similar terrain and weather as Utah. I mention this because I prefer the 2.3 tires over the 2.5-2.6 tires for my terrain. I find it to have similar grip, more protection and faster rolling. Still, that doesn't completely answer the question why they spec their bikes with 2.3 in the rear. I wasn't aware there wasn't clearance for a slightly wider tire though... interesting.

Yeah, if I had an extra $8000 laying around I'd also own the SB150 :-) For now I'll stick with my SB5.5... 37mph flying down JL??? Holy Guacamole! Great camera footage on the trail at the end... love that perspective! Thanks guys!

@MTB good video. The format is cool with the two of you (or two people in general). Doing a pros and cons for each of you would add perspective, but it’s also a good change cool as it stands. As for bikes, I’m looking for single bike that is a great climber, with a handling second. The Ibis Ripley, Hightower, and now the SB100 are on my list. Is it worth considering the SB130 or Ripmo?

Really like hearing from both of you, two inputs are better than one. Really want the 150, but not sure it's the right bike for Sedona.

Jason, any plan to test the new Trek Remedy? Not sure I remember you ever testing a Trek (perhaps I missed it), but I've read some pretty stellar things about that bike.

I have a 4.5c and would like to add a bigger bike, but dont think I will need a 150. Do you think a 130 would be a good compliment to my 4.5. Love your videos...keep it up!

Nice video as usual! Having demoed so many 29ers how do you feel the recent generation (SB150, SB130, Firebird, 429...) compares against a long travel 27.5 for people around 5'8"? I have a Trek Remedy 27.5 and on the market for a new bike. All these 29ers look huge on paper with massive reach and stack for medium size frames. May end up buying a Bronson or Nomad...
