Hey Jeff, glad to hear you feel the Yeti magic! I'm on my second one (SB6 now, SB66c before) and helped some friends buy theirs and we all agree on the fact that the "myth" is a reality -- those bikes really do have something special. I've also demoed the SB150, which is the SB130's bigger brother and I was blown away!

Glad to hear you're impressed with the 130LR. I bought a 2021 at the end of last summer. I originally had my heart set on the Norco Sight or Optic but they were all sold out. Glad I ended up with the 130LR. It feels like the perfect combination of rowdy trail bike and predally "xc" machine. I couldn't be happier with it.

I've had a SB130 for 2 years best bike ive owned! [Stumpy 26' > SB95 > 5010 > 130]. Never have I ridden a more fun and capable bike. For those concerned about how it does on mellow trails I live in Oklahoma and I still would prefer the 130 here over the 115 or 100. It is an insanely capable and fun bike on all terrain. My riding over those two years consist of 50% OK, 20% AR, 25% CO [trail ridinng & bike park] and 5% UT. Tagged a KOM at Trestle last summer and a top 10 on a climb in Oklahoma, that's what I call well rounded.

Good stuff as always Jeff! I was seriously thinking about the SB130 before I bought my RIP 9 RDO, but since I could not find one to test and I read that it responds better to an aggressive rider that is confident pushing the front end, I decided against it as riding the front end hard is one of my many weaknesses. Not sure if that is true or not, but that is why I passed on it.

Kyle, thanks for mentioning that! I had forgotten about the Cascade link. And this bike would be interesting to squish with a coil, but honestly, of all the shocks I've ridden, the DPX2 is my favorite. I'll crack it open and see what sorta volume reducer is in there. I'd not want it to be any less progressive, which makes me think a coil isn't a good fit for my riding style. If I get surprised and find no reducers, or a tiny one, then I'll go and consider a coil!

You weren't missing much by not coming to Colorado, the namesake route for the Lunch ride isn't usually rideable in winter. For those that aren't familiar, the Lunch Ride the Lunch Ride is named after is a route in Golden, Colorado, it starts and ends at the Yeti factory, goes to Apex park, climbs up to the top of Apex park via Argos and Pick & sledge trails, and descends via Enchanted Forest and Apex trails, then ride back to the Yeti factory. The name comes from this being a traditional Lunchtime ride for Yeti employees.

Well that Yeti blue is better than all of the boring black and gray bikes everyone else sells.

Not a fan of the Switch Infinity maintenance and replacements. Still, one of the best bikes out there. We are lucky with all these great bikes.

In fact its not that bad. I did my first SI maintenance one week ago, took 45 min.

@@vmxd I guess it depends on your maintenance and the conditions you ride on. I hear people going through them per year....

Hey so I ordered a sb130 with the enduro s carbon hydra wheels, should I stick with these or return them for the trail 280c wheels (24h). I want the aluminum spokes but I’m not sure if the trail are a good fit for the bike. Any input would be appreciated

How did it climb compared to the DW link platform you're used to?

how does a long and slack shorter travel bike like this SB130 compare to the slightly older Geo'd but longer travel bike like a ripmo v1?

Hey Jeff - I’m more interested in your I9 wheels. Last year I spent part of my tax refund on a V1 Evil The Following. I bought it via Jenson USA. I ❤️ the bike BUT I wish Jenson USA had told me that the 3 prawl DT Swiss hubs were CRAP! I would’ve spent the extra ca$h then for Better hubs (cycling is my only passion so I want quality). So I spent the winter researching hubs and wheels for my MTB and decided on I9 mostly because of the hydra hub. But now I’m liking going 315 hoops instead of 305....for speed. Questions: - I’m 5-8 195 pounds should I stick with 32 spoke holes? Reynolds need to add extra spokes to my road aero rear wheel because spokes kept braking.... I’m a heavy BIKE BANGER. - Since where I ride, Philadelphia’s Wissahickon trails, isn’t a downhill mountain like out west but instead has tough trails a rocks and roots and lots quick hill hits of “lay the power down” technical stuff, that I carbon would be fine...as in not cracking (going balls to the wall down a mountain). I’m thinking carbon for speed but maybe aluminum would be more durable? - I want I9 Hydra for the performance but I’m hoping it’s not too noisy. I’m 62 yrs old and WAY PAST showing off. Do you use the extra grease, you said in the vid that your new Hydra was “quieter”.

Hey Shaun, for my riding style (active and jumping and pumping) the Yeti is a slightly better fit. However, folks with a more “wheels on the ground” style will likely prefer the more plush/higher traction feel of the Evil. In terms of maintenance and such, the recent Yeti and Rocky Mountain press fit 92 bottom Brackets have been no issue- and that’s despite lots of muddy miles. The current Shimano press fit BBs are fine. SRAM are OK but will wear out sooner in the muck.
