Thank you! Hugely helpful. I split time between the Yeti SB5c and an Ibis Mojo 3 and don't keep track of hours or miles. Happy to add this procedure to my maintenance schedule.

I’ve seen some good maintenance videos but this is awesome. I actually have this video to my LBS to do the service instead of using Yetis instructions. Thanks dude.

Thank you for this tutorial!! This simple maintenance fixed my insanely loud creak that my local bike shop couldn't diagnose. Turns out the rear collet axle was finger loose, I believe this was the culprit. Either way after re-assembly that super annoying creak was gone.

Nice video! ... It is really good to give a few full spins to the suspension pivot/linkage bearings since those usually rotate about 1/4 to 1/2 turn under normal use. Therefore all the wear will concentrate on a few of the balls inside if they are never spun. Inspecting, re-lubing and giving them a couple spins will definitely extend these bearings life.

Indeed. Thanks for watching!

Nice video dude, You say about the bearings being pressed into the carbon frame, there's 4 Bearings pressed into a carbon dog Bone linkage that you have taken out, we use a anti seize grease on the housing for the bearings to slide in nicely and to stop them from creaking if you have to replace them.
@mtbsavant54146 жыл бұрын
Good call. I use a little bearing compound as well.

Great video man, very helpful. Question: does the longer collet axle go on the bottom and the shorter one go on top? Also, are there four total washers (2 on each side) for the male/female shock bolts? Thanks!!

Good tutorial. However, where did you read the Yeti requirement that the pivot bearings need to be replaced annually? My 2017 Yeti SB5's maintenance schedule calls for a "complete tune-up performed by a Yeti Dealer" as the only annual step. In fact, the monthly checks include "Cleaning the pivot points with a rag (do not lubricate)."

Do you have to remove the shock to grease and service the si links and stanchions? I have a 2016 Sb5 enduro gx. Thanks.

I have a 2018 Yeti SB 5.5 and it seems like there is too much play in the rear triangle pivot points. Is that possible? Or am I overthinking it? Is there something i should do to fix this?

Thank you very much for this! Subscribed and forwarding my buddy your video. Do you have any suggestions for day to day maintenance of the switch infinity?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
Just keep it clean and wipe off any excess grease and you'll be fine.

after how many hours or km of use do you need to change the switch infinity piston system? thanks. Very well video man! compliments
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
There's no interval for replacement according to Yeti. They seem to think it will last the lifetime of the frame if cared for properly.

Great video. Maybe you should contract with Yeti? I called Yeti directly and asked why they didnt have any good maintenance video's especially regarding the Switch. They said they were too busy :0

Too busy riding their bikes during lunch I guess ;)

Great vid. Do you have one for the 4.5c too?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
I don't but the concepts are very similar. The 4.5 has slightly different hardware around the dog bone, but other than that it's almost identical.

Hi! i have a SB4.5, recently participated in a very muddy 100k race. After that my bike is so noisy even cleaned very well. Any video how to lubricate all joints on rear suspension? also seat post became very noisy.
@mtbsavant54145 жыл бұрын
Manuel, I did a switch infinity maintenance tutorial video a few years ago. Not exactly the same but similar enough.
@thuando92802 жыл бұрын
Wondering if you had suggestions for collar axel that does not thread out when I do this maintenance for my yeti sb4.5c? When I unscrew the collar axel, it pushes the nut on the drive side out of the frame instead of coming out. Thanks
@mtbsavant54142 жыл бұрын
Let the nut back out just enough and tap it with a rubber mallet and the other side should pop out
@thuando92802 жыл бұрын
@@mtbsavant5414 the rubber mallet worked on the upper collar axel connected to the dog bone but not on the one connected to the switch infinity. Any other ideas?

I tried to grease my switch infinity link but no grease oozes out of the seals... just felt the pressure on the grease gun but doesn't seems to be pushing the grease into the ports... is there any special trick to inject the grease? I bought the Yeti infinity grease and gun kit which is actually a repackaged dualco gun and surely repackaged mobil xhp 222 grease as well. Didn't loosen the port screws... just pressed the gun tip against the port and tried to inject the grease. Maybe my infinity link seals are too new and tight that doesn't allow the grease to flow?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
I haven't used that grease gun but can you feel the trigger compressing or is it stuck? If the system is dry it might take a few pumps to see grease coming out, and sometimes it might ooze out more towards the bottom making it hard to see.
@livenlearn34687 жыл бұрын
I also have the same grease gun and had problems. I pumped about 25 times and still no grease came out of the seals. Concerned i took it to my Lbs and they used a much larger gun and it took only one pump. Lbs seemed to think the Yeti gun didnt have enough pressure per volume to work effectively.

Hi can you tell me when you do infenity switch do yo know if bearings are replaceable with out expensive buying the unit

Woah. Complicated. I got one of these bikes on a discount from a shop that couldn't get me the YT I wanted and I knew you had to service this Switch Infinity thing somehow but that is absurd. How much do replacing the bearings every year cost?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
Bearings are $50 plus whatever your shop would charge to replace them. It's actually pretty straight forward and worse case you can bring the SI and dogbone to the shop and have the bearings removed and pressed in to save $$
@DaveLopez5757 жыл бұрын
I barely got the 2018 sb4.5, and I live in the desert. Do I have to wipe/wash the switch infinity after each ride? Thank you.

What grease did you use for the actual infinity switch?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
XHP-222 Special. There's 2 versions so make sure to get the one labeled special which includes moly.
@williamsuraci87363 жыл бұрын
You used that on the stanchions? Or youre talking the inside of the bearing?? What grease gun or thing do you use to grease the unit itself?
@williamsuraci87363 жыл бұрын
What grease gun do you have link??
@lanzonests7 жыл бұрын
so you torque the bolts at a minimum?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
All the bolts are torqued to spec with the exception of the ones that secure the dogbone to the frame. I usually go about 2 nm less than what Yeti quotes.
@useport807 жыл бұрын
what kinda of grease do you use for the actual switch infinity link?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
Mobil XHP 222
@useport807 жыл бұрын
im looking to get the xhp 222 grease and a gun applicator. do you just squeeze all of the xhp222 into the base of your gun? i dont need a special vacuum or pressurized gun do i?
@mtbsavant54147 жыл бұрын
Nope you simply unscrew the bottom of the gun and scoop in the grease. You don't need a lot in the gun either to get going. Good luck!
