Bobby Alan ok, PSA is making a handgun that looks like a Glock and is completely compatible with Glock parts, and they’re making Ak’s. Nothing new or innovative there... And it’s my opinion sooooo, I can say the YEET cannon is the coolest thing. Doesn’t really matter.

Expected barrel life? If one wears out a barrel, does that require a new tax stamp or could YHM just service the upper and install a new barrel?

Isn't really a point to investing in a integrally suppressed upper like this since AR "pistols" have become so ubiquitous.

Now, suppressors are "Restricted" in NY State... What's the deal on something like this? I mean this isn't a suppressor, it's a barrel.
@Paelorian
@Paelorian 4 жыл бұрын
I almost never see integrally suppressed AR manufacturers explain why their product is better than the dozens of other nearly identical rifles on the market. I've seen rifles just like this before. What are they doing new or better? Why shouldn't I yawn at just another unspecial AR-15? Boring. Why don't they ever even aim for something different or superlative in some dimension? "Here's our imitation of somebody else's gun you saw here last year. We're going to make the exact same pitch you've heard with older guns like this since we didn't make any improvements or do anything different." Why not aim to offer the most accurate, lightest, lowest recoil, least gas exiting the ejection port, and/or most reliable integrally suppressed rifle, upper, or barrel? At least do something to stand out from the crowd. Even something a little weird like a long handguard or integrated suppressor cover, iron sights mounted on the front of the suppressor, or a bayonet lug. Even a gimmick would go a long way toward attracting attention now an integrally suppressed AR is no longer unique or novel. I love integrally suppressed ARs and I'm disappointed that most of them are practically identical. A product launch like this is a missed opportunity to develop the concept and make a superior integrally suppressed AR. You generally don't need to clean rifle suppressors when shooting normal rifle ammo, but that doesn't mean the ability to open up the suppressor isn't useful. As noted in the video, there's an open hole at the end of that suppressor into which undesirable objects can enter. Access to the suppressor interior would be useful to get out that loose cleaning patch or pebbly mud or whatever.
@Paelorian
@Paelorian 4 жыл бұрын
@Eric @Eric @Eric I don't suspect it would be pickier about ammo than any other AR without an adjustable gas system. I got the impression that it's not adjustable. Other integrally suppressed ARs cycle fine with most ammo and don't have or need an adjustable gas system to fiddle with for different ammo. If you really like fiddling, then an integral may not be the way to go. A lot of the appeal is that it's all ready to go. In the best cases, it's better than a suppressor attached to a gun designed to be shot without one. But tinkerers who want to adjust the gas precisely and shoot the latest and greatest in silencer technology would probably be happier with detachable suppressors. Some of these integrals are worse at being suppressed rifles than some rifles with detachable suppressors mounted to them. Also, I'm so often disappointed by the numbers as I was with this video. Not quieter. Not better than competitors already on the market. Why bother. The manufacturer in this video didn't even bother to justify his product's existence because apparently he's bringing nothing to the table and his customers could do better than his product. YHM has been around a long time, but brand shouldn't be the selling point. Performance should be. There are other respected brands in the field. Like Daniel Defense, Gemtech, and Spike's Tactical. On reputation alone, I'd rather go with those companies. They've been making rifles like this for years and the positive reviews are in. Their high testing standards are well known. Confidence in their integrally suppressed guns has been established, so why try a new gun that doesn't do anything better from a company that doesn't have a better reputation? Why, why, why? Gemtech's Integra is a good example of an actually notable integrally suppressed AR, notable for what it is rather than who made it. They came up with a clever and different "bore evacuator" gas system for less gas coming out the ejection port, offered the quietest suppressed AR ever in it's chamberings at the time of release, built and tested it to be able to withstand realistic combat situations (it will hold up if you rapidly fire the hundreds of rounds of ammunition a combatant would carry into a firefight), and they sold the gun as an upper as well as a rifle. In other words, they had some real selling points that made them stand out, which is why I remember the name of that gun and have already forgotten what this YHM also-ran is called. The other companies I mentioned are also memorable since they also have reputations for high standards and their guns came to market early enough to be landmarks in the industry, back when guns like this were few, niche, and new. At this point, it would still be a big deal if Ruger came out with an average integrally suppressed AR, but not YHM. Kel-Tec came out with an integrally suppressed rifle this SHOT, their SUB2000 CQB. I like it better than the older, non-integral versions of the gun. It has features that make it more useful and attractive than a non-integral SUB2000. And Kel-Tec is a big enough company that it means something that they're getting into suppressors. As did Ruger already with a creative integrally suppressed 10/22 Takedown a few years ago (it had an "8"-shaped barrel reminiscent of an over/under shotgun). I love seeing widespread industry acceptance of silencers, integral or detachable. They deserve it and I look forward to the proliferation of both as it will be a boon for us shooters. Integral suppression clearly can be superior to rifles with detachable suppressors mounted, and offer exclusive features, but shooters are better off with a great detachable suppressor on a great AR than a mediocre integrally suppressed rifle.

If the definition of a silencer is "The term “Firearm Silencer” or “Firearm Muffler” means any device for silencing, muffling, or diminishing the report of a portable firearm, including any combination of parts, designed or redesigned, and intended for the use in assembling or fabricating a firearm silencer or firearm muffler, any part intended only for use in such assembly or fabrication." Can barrel manufacturers design a barrel that is a little quieter without crossing the "Silencer" line?
