I think it depends on the type of fingerprint scanners. Ultrasonic scanners may still work, but optical scanners probably not

@@AlphaAlfaX You could have that today but, the screen would be more susceptible to shattering. There is a trade off between shatter and scratch resistance and this seems to be the best ratio engineers have currently come up with.

IP test do not give immediate results, and they are mostly deceiving. like submersion under water for 30 min - so if I keep phone under water for 29 min, take it out and then put again under water for 29 min will it survive? scratch test is for the dust scratches.

@@GuitarSlayer136 Some people have pointed it's actually very useful for people living in hot climates like Utah or Arizona for example, where they've left their phone in a car or somewhere, it got very hot and messed up their screen, so having a phone that can survive being hot for a while would be very beneficial for those people.

@@vgamesx1 Arizona heat is not a bic lighter with all of the particulates and chemicals burning your screen at temperatures the sun couldn't induce in a hyper localized area. I get how the current findings can be somewhat usefull in niche situations but a better version of the test would benefit everyone imo.

Good luck using it after an year. These phones don't last long. I lost mineROG 5 after an year. It had worst kind of hardware quality you may think of. Like local Chinese brand.

Is it too much to ask for a steel frame? Even Apple finally somewhat fixed the 5 years of bend-gate with stainless steel frames on the pro models. Feels good to have a thin yet heavy phone. And it helps with the drop durability too from its rigidity.

IIRC the previous ROG Phone models have had the same issue for the bend test. In one of the models, the ROG Phone 3 it was attributed to the split cell battery I think?

Would be great to add some real world test before the torture test. For example dropping the phone off a table to see who it does. Also I think a phone should be evaluated as it comes from the box for example for this phone not removing the added protective layer on the screen at first and putting the case that it came with on.

If they reposition the batteries from horizontal to vertical orientation it can help with the structural integrity. Although by the looks of it ROG needs to add a midplate and increase the frame thickness or try a different alloy altogether. For 1300 this surely is possible. If Apple of all companies can offer a stainless steel frame ROG certainly can.

the frames, i blame the frames, the frames is slim, and thats why it bends like that, they didnt reinforce it, they just use the last gen frame and put new stuff in it.

@@moonshot9056 Who does that to a phone though. Most of the results from Jerry's testing are irrelevant to real world use. Who has ever had a flame on their phone display, for example? For people who don't bend or sit on phones, why would they be worried about this bend test?

@@moonshot9056 I don’t routinely try to snap my phones in half, maybe that’s just me. I highly doubt daily use would see this phone bent like that even if you did sit on it.

Phone designers are some of the most incompetent and "last year" people around. Have you seen a spread of phone designs from the last half decade? They basically look the same, and not just externally. As for their engineers... gutless. I think i've seen toy manufacturers with better engineers than these guys. It takes less force to bend this joke of a phone than it takes to break a long LEGO brick. Heck, you'd hurt your fingers trying to bend one of those. Funny thing is the solution would be so simple, and already common in lightweight, narrow item design. Either a hardened metal rod or a carbon fiber rod. Some super narrow plastic shelves have carbon fiber rods inside them when cast. Aesthetic design doesn't need to be hindered if your engineer team is top notch. You can have a wafer thin phone, but if your team's made of glue sniffers... no comment.

I'm happy that you finally tested this phone. I used the rog phone 1 since it was released and a few months ago i decided to get the upgrade. I'm now using the rog phone 6 Pro for about 2 months and so far I'm loving it. Even if it fails the durability test, it's strong enough for me. I'm used to be very careful with my phones. But i have to say that I'm a little upset, that mine didn't came with that screen protector.

@@aztec_3954 I bought it online. The cooler is normally not included, but when I bought it in the Asus online Shop, they included an free cooler for every order.

@@aztec_3954 in my country the phone was released in september. So it was a limited action that everyone who pre-ordered in August got the cooler as a freebie. I wish you the best of luck, that they will do something similar again, but i think it's most unlikely.

The box design is garbage. It's even less "trendy" than the box design for the Genius DeathTaker mouse, eons ago. As much as it hurts to say it, Apple still has the last word in box design. If they'd apply the same logic to "hip" and "cool", maybe it would look and function better.
