Diva with a princess complex 😂 of course those dudes be saying that. And at the same time as if a woman in a misogynistic society and industry can get this successful (!!! Like hello sailor moon is one of the most famous, iconic and successful manga there is) even with all the talent and skills, etc. to back up without asserting herself and being firm and bold. You’ll be trivialized, ignored, disrespected, made fun of, have to fight harder to get to same opportunities and hated on another level. Probably same thing in Uni when she was studying chemistry and pharmacy !!!

You say Takeuchi had been seen as a hot tempered diva with a princess complex, but considering some of what you described about her peers here, it sounds more like old Japanese men in the 90s couldn't cope with a confident, talented, independent woman. @@KhanhNguyen-hd7wsWoman likes pathetic men. Togashi probably begged so hard and so pitifully that she lived through her wildest sadist fantasy IRL when he was practically breaking down over trying to win her back. By fumbling the bag again with such a weak poorly coordinated attempt at a comeback, he secured the keeper because right then she confirmed Togashi was indeed everything she dreamed of in a man. Then again, this only worked because this woman has such a specific taste in men, Togashi being Togashi was literally winning her heart by just being a thrash man but a very dedicated worker.

I just love to imagine he relayed what he said to a friend, probably unaware of what he did wrong and they slapped him sharply across the face like in a drama and shouted "What is wrong with you?! She is so out of your league that in any other situation you two wouldn't be in the same room together and you told her that?! She may be freaky, but she is the freaky that wants you and let's be real in what scenario would you be the one cheating? Where you are going to get another 10/10 woman? ...That doesn't know you're rich?!" And the guy just paused and his eyes went wide in the realization, "Oh... No... I messed up! What I have done!" Because from this whole story my Sailor Moon Princess isn't abusive, stalking him, putting her menstrual blood in his food (I read a lot of stories like that 😂). As someone who looks basic when an attractive person is nice to me and wants to be with me, I'm taking it.

@@gachagamer536TBH, it worked both ways, she probably NEVER ONCE had the chance to drop it straight like that to any other love interest despite a well known sadistic tendency, so when Togashi literally did a blunder this bad and he came back even more pathetic than ever, she finally vented everything out while also living her fantasy, she was also convincing herself of what she was saying, that this is The One Guy she was looking for, she effectively convinced herself too that no one but her could tolerate the failure of a human being that Togashi was. And apparently that's not a lie because I can't imagine any other woman capable of enduring what Togashi allegedly is. And he's not lazy, just really careless. And more like, careless by work ethic and because it worked for him for years before the whole marriage.

@@gachagamer536she does seem like the love bombing type. But it’s more than that, togashi isn’t a lame loser, he actually has the perfect shojo Love interest personality, to have passive dominance which is what we like, showing that you don’t care and while at the same time being so completely vulnerable is actually really intriguing for women. Even though he said something stupid this can also be attributed to his emotions making him irrational and passiveness by being insensitive. Watch the anime maid Sama, there’s an episode where she dresses up like a man at work and makes all the women fall for her, in the better translation uses this term passive dominance to explain how men are sexy. It’s not just her, it gets everyone going… most shojo male love interests have this exact personality, study up guys! (Watch it Subbed not dubbed)

I mean if she did have a princess/diva complex, it was definitely earned. I never got big into Sailor Moon, but yeah definitely immensely culturally relevant. She seems to be someone who knows what she want's and won't settle. Plus otherwise if she wasn't the way she was. Togashi also needed to take better care of his overall health, and I'm not sure he would have actually slowed for himself unless that marriage had happened.

Right? Plus, it sounds like she had to be extra assertive so her creative vision could come through and be respected. By all means, it sounds like, if she thought something was a good idea (like Osano's idea of, instead of making the series in space, to have the girls fight in sailor fukus because it would be cute), she incorporated it to her vision. If you get pushback on even something like your protagonist's hair color, that kind of says a lot. Even then, she took that advice even if she disagreed, and made Usagi blonde. The most "diva" thing she does is be open about her love life, in which case... so? This doesn't actually impact the work and you can just ignore it if you're not interested in it.

Takeuchi was called a diva with a princess complex, but it sounds like she knew what she wanted and had a no BS attitude that wasn’t normal for Japanese women at the time. Weirdly Togashi’s comment about cheating is more progressive cause usually the man can cheat all he wants cause just having sex ‘doesn’t count’, but the woman can’t cheat cause it does count. Japanese men still believe in this, it’s why girls clubs are so popular and soap lands. Maybe because he was kinda progressive for the time she accepted his groveling. She’s a queen who deserves the best.

I read about this on the Tuxedo Unmasked website a long time ago and it made me feel so sorry that Naoko went through with the marriage..anyone who actually read her manga would know how hopelessly romantic she is. He either didn't care or thought of himself as superior to her that he could actually say something like that and she would agree. Never sat right with me and honestly I'm confused why begging mattered to her? If someone says "cheating is allowed" to your face, nothing can correct that.. Truly vile stuff
@Lodosssc
@Lodosssc 19 күн бұрын
Honestly I think if both parties agree to it, it's not cheating, because there's consent. It's an open relationship. In my opinion, togashi wasn't feeling superior when he said this, he's just a big workaholic nerd and might have had some issue to commit to a relationship. (And I'm referring to the wedding aspect and the "work" needed to make a relationship work.) So he just thought they would have a casual (open) relationship and it was a big no for Takeuchi. Honestly, props for her for leaving then instead of trying to force commitment on togashi. But in the end, it's not like she married to a guy who had said "cheating isn't a big deal" but rather to a guy who said "let's have an open relationship". And she only returned because (I believe) her own needs and desires were respected, aka having a close relationship.

@@Lodosssc His letter said there will be no kids, you will remain working, you keep your last name, and cheating is okay. That is a man who indeed felt superior..why else would he be that bold to deny her everything a marriage is in her eyes? Her own heroine's dream in life is to be a stay at home mom.. guess he didn't read any of that. The concern would be in the future there will be fights revolving around these very issues.."I told you not to retire!, I said I didn't want kids!" Yeah no thanks. She probably just deeply respected his reputation and creative direction while they worked together. She definitely stuck with him all these years so maybe he knows those topics are especially forbidden
