With Melanie being the only human to persuade an alien with feelings, does that mean that the rest of humanity had boring, emotionless memories? There are people with bigger, harder emotions than 'oh I met a sexy man once'. And Melanie isn't the only teenager with those emotions. If these aliens are swayed by feelings, their whole takeover wouldn't work, because they'd sympathize with almost all humans.

Actually in the book she is NOT the only of her kind... in the book there are a total of 3 others who have limited control over their minds and bodies and 1 of those is actually working with another free human tribe to protect them. The other 2 are being over ruled by their alien but are freed... only one lives and is a bit chatty after being freed. Also cut from the book is a scene where they are on a supply haul and they meet an alien couple with a completely human kid that they treat with love and compassion and play with on the play ground. Given these examples exist it opens up the possibility that many other cases also exist.
@matthewgiese7811

@Galily The book was ok... it was more akin to "Enemy Mine" sorta... where you got someone who is learning that her enemy isn't what she thought they were. MOST of the book is Wanda and Melanie inner monologue. In a nut shell the main character Wanda finds out they are horrible invasive creatures and not the peaceful altruistic people they think they are. She gradually learns that their invasion of earth was wrong. It's ok book... nothing ground breaking but a lot better than the twilight series. It is also MUCH better then the Chemist book she did.

Yes, it's essentially Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets Stargate SG-1. The latter show had both evil and good alien creatures that could either completely take over or share a host human body. @Miss_Darko

George Clooney apologizing for Batman and Robin comes to mind. But generally, for professionals, it's just bad practice to badmouth previous employers and the stuff they were involved in. Acting is a contractual sort of job, bouncing around from employer to employer for every job. Companies want to know that they can trust you, and a big part of that is being diplomatic and not talk shit, even if it's well-deserved shit talking. It's not fair, but it's career suicide to make a habit of that because you'll get blacklisted real quick. So actors are kind of forced to cover their asses by kissing ass. Unless it's such a universally accepted bad thing and a lot of time has passed, in which case you see more examples of writers, directors, and actors expressing more honest opinions about the work they were involved in.
@LibraGamesUnlimited

Mr. Darko That was after the fact, I mean when the movie is first coming out. Oh I know it's just really awkward to hear them trying to verbally twist and turn their way through an interview. You know they know the movie is crap but can't just come out and say "the movie is crap, don't watch it".

If "unreasonable" means "unlogical", then the alien is correct, human beings are objectively prone to emotional outbursts that hamper more logical solutions. So, to a creature that is defined more by cold rationality rather than emotion, calling human beings "unreasonable", is in fact, reasonable. Whether taking over a species is MORAL, though, is an entirely different question. It could just be that the aliens in question do not consider taking over a species as immoral, because they do not use the same framework as human beings (tend to) do.

What is it with Stephanie Meyer and trying to romanticize coercion and sexual assault in her stories?
@aubreykosch4227
@aubreykosch4227 7 жыл бұрын
gorrow1990 There are several psychological phenomenon in which women seek out and romanticize abuse. It often ties back to an abusive childhood, and in adult life, they find security in abusive relationships. They're not being creepy, they're stuck in a cycle of abuse. at least, that's what I've found about the subject.

A thought occurred to me: Since the first time the human host talks back is in front of a mirror, why not have the actual reflection talk back to her? That would allow for things like feeling creepy and allow the actor to better deliver the emotions through expressions and body language.
@DeMomcalypseLive
@DeMomcalypseLive 7 жыл бұрын
Crowley9 In all honesty, that would be a bit cliche, because why in a practical sense would Wanderer imagine her reflection representing Melanie and talking back to her? It would probably work better if Melanie talked through the body, but when she did, the camera cut to the reflection of Melanie without the fucked up eyes and the cut back to Wanderer when she talks, kind of like how Gollum speaks with Smeagle in Lord of the Rings

+Brandon Trollsten you are actually not supposed to wear t shirts and shorts in the desert. Thats one of the fastest ways to die. Look at the bedouins. Long flowy robes with the least skin exposure as possible to conserve fluid.
@Mazra42
@Mazra42 8 жыл бұрын
+FourthDerivative It's a combination of the color and the way it's worn that makes black robes the best to wear in hot climates. Black fabric absorbs more heat, but it also absorbs more light than white fabric, so less sunlight reaches you skin. Now, the additional heat that is absorbed by black fabric only matters if it reaches the skin, which is why Bedouins wear loose robes. Warm air rises and is replaced by colder air. The hotter the air, the faster it rises. Dark fabric causes the air to rise very quickly, so it creates a sort of "fanning" effect where the hot air is constantly replaced by cooler air. It's imperative that you wear the fabric loosely in a tube-ish fashion, so that colder air can get sucked in at the bottom and be transported along your body to the top as it is heated.
