Furiosa is a rare example of a "strong female character" that works.

Hmm, didn't see the first one, just saw the second one. I liked it, but not really rewatchable since it was so "BY THE BOOKS", they tried to change it up with the kids at the end, and then with the ending. But that wasn't too much of a departure from everything else that was formulaic, that it didn't elevate it to a Great Movie. Since even that twist seemed formulaic. With that said, I though Yuma County was well written, super believable events, nothing too crazy or fantastical in it dialog or event wise. EXTREMELY grounded, and everyone acted their part perfectly. It was a very COHEN-light like movie. That this guy could totally go on to make a Garfield film. Apparently the star of this movie is a comedian, writer and director whose two films I watched, I think he has 3 or 4 films, those are good too, same tone as this movie, but this wasn't his movie, he just starred in this. I hope we see more of him, didn't love the two movies he put out, but his acting is effervescent.

The fact that it was called a bad musical decision in a scene that even made Bong Joon-ho cry because of how well the music and visuals played together makes you realize how much of Adam's musical criticism seems to come from wanting movie music scores to act like concerts.

Huh, surprised to hear adam say the non-action dialog heavy scenes were some of his favourite in Furiosa, and that the action was where we spent too much runtime. Id agree there was too much action but there was also definitely, and even more so, too much non-action. The first section sure I can see the appeal, but the negotiations, Furiosas never ending origins of doing random acts of epicness badassery in the citidel, 10 minute hairchopping lore, this is what bloated the film for me, this is why its a 2 hour 30 slog by the end. Fury Road couldnt have had more action and less dialog if it tried, and was still 2 entire hours long, yet didnt even begin to drag at any point. Its obvious where george millers strengths lay, and his emphasis away from them here is what hurt the film for me, not the other way around.

Nó comment on the perpetual dubbing of the first film? MEDIOCRE.

This Furiosa review plays out like the Spiderverse one where it sounds like a review he'd give for an 8-9/10 film, so when it's slapped with 6/10 you're kinda caught off-guard. (I'm not saying he's wrong or didn't watch it correctly and all that nonsense, btw, just that I can understand why someone may feel a bit of whiplash at the final rating)

disagree about Fury Road's music, but absolutely agree about young Furiosa. Alyla was insanely good on screen and I was ultra invested in her character at that stage in her life.

When she saved the dead bird who flew in through the window by rewinding time and opening the window, I realized I was watching the Life is Strange movie. That's an event from the first episode of the first game if you explore Chloe's house.

Really surprised Adum didn't bring up how in Furiosa a whole giant war was described to the audience in a voiceover and we barely saw any of it. I immediately thought this would be the biggest point of disappointment for anyone watching this movie but nobody is bringing it up. Also kinda thought the ending monologue was a little cloying and didn't quite land.

Came here to suggest May December. Would love your thoughts on the stylistic choice of the filmmaker to use dark humor for this subject matter while satirizing lifetime tv movies.

I didn't see the first one because I hated Batman vs. Superman and I believed people when they said it was bad. I didn't mind the Snyder Cut... I thought it was like... Ok. But I'm still glad the Snyder-verse is over. I like DC comics and I've been frustrated by these crummy movies for years.

Man I normally align with Adams taste but I really didn't like furiosa. I felt like the CGI was too noticeable for me to get immersed. I didn't really like any characters other than Chris Hemsworth... It just felt flat and I was bored 😴

dunno , i felt that Fury Road's music was integral in making the whole experience epic. ( and 7/10 is too low a score ) and Furiosa was a bit of a letdown. did not vibe with its tone or green screens or less well-thought-out action set pieces.

Also Wolf of Snowhollow one of my favorite movies. Definitely makes my all time top 100 (a Jim Cummings movie; he is great as an actor too though)

6/10 is very accurate for Furiosa, I've seen some people calling it a 9/10 and that's insane. It was good. It wasn't great.

1:40 honestly disagree, although I understand the dislike of it. For me, it felt properly epic and borderline mythical. I could see the scene still working like that if it had taken the music away there, but to me with or without it just seems like different intent as opposed to one being lesser than the other. I get the preference, but I get a lot of chills when the music swells in that part, whether that's a negative because the music is doing some lifting, I don't know, but I like it a lot.
@kylecampbell714153 минут бұрын
So well said about Furiosa. The scene that was compared to a Wichouski scene I also thought not the best scene. Super surprised at the 6 though after everything you said was expecting a 7 that was closer to an 8 for the score

I thoroughly enjoyed Furiosa, for some of the same reasons Adum liked it. It was also the best theatre experience I've had in years, with the other audience members being as silent and immersed in the movie as I was. I'd give it a 7/10, but 9/10 theatre experience.

I’m frustrated with myself because I just can’t seem to care anymore. I was SUPER into Fury Road (and had an appreciation for the older ones) but.. that was almost 10 years ago. I promise this isn’t meant to sound spiteful Is anyone else having this same problem? Like, I want it to do well but really don’t have a lot of interest in seeing it right away? At the same time, holy shit I still need to see The Death of Dick Long

The highlight for me was when Dementus goes ballistic, drives through a iron gate and chases down Furisoa in a monster truck despite the huge distance between them, followed by the adrenaline wearing off after awhile and Dementus becoming bored, regretful and self-reflective on what happened.
@witchwaist20 минут бұрын
agree with all of this except for the regretful bit. that mf didn't regret a single thing he did in that chase, or the torture that followed
