Didn't know Lenovo had started selling non-touchscreen laptops under the "Yoga" brand. Because it used to be reserved only for their 2-1 machines. Their product naming conventions are so confusing.

Nice video! I miss a small comparison to the non-pro version. Main difference (except screen and internals) is shorter battery life, no mini HDMI port, one USB A port less, no SD card reader, and a slightly redesigned inlet air vent :)

Good job checking Linux support! 😁 The refresh rate setting is kinda hidden in Windows but it's there in display settings under graphics adapter settings if I'm not mistaken

As always, very high qualitly videos! I have bought the Lenovo Yoga 7i 14' and it looks similar, the biggest difference is that it is a 2-in-1 and it has a Intel Core i7 11th Gen. I want to tell you that benchmarks aren't the only thing you should look at. First I thought "Oh no, Intel CPUs, they have worse Multicore performance" and I can tell you, it makes no difference for me, everything loads superfast. In everyday usage the current Intel generation is a probably even bit better, because of the higher single core performance. And if you really need to max out the CPU, it probably doesn't matter if it takes some more time, because most of the time, only programs that run for longer times will use the CPU that intense. e.g. rendering, compiling large projects. Overall I'm very happy with my choice.

Great review! This has been my most anticipated laptop for some time now. As soon as I saw the specs for the display in the promo material months ago, I knew it would be something special. Like you said, it just seems like the best all arounder, perfectly balancing all the different aspects. The M1 MacBooks are very tempting as well, but this seems better for me. The only tough question is, do I get Intel with TB4 and the MX450, or AMD with the crazy multi-core performance?

Hi Josh, Awesome channel keep it up. I bought Yoga Slim 7 Pro 16" with this review contributing heavily. I am very happy with it, the variations I have had were: Pros: bought model with dedicated graphics, 120hz screen and number pad (ease of work) Cons: I did find the speakers somewhat hollow, my 8 year old VAIO it was replacing and work issued Lenovo V15 have better volume and deeper quality sound. I was planning to skip this model because I worried about the build quality and the keyboard feel, the review makes me very tempting to buy it! As for the 95w charger, I believe Lenovo give them on purpose because fully loading the CPU and GPU at the same time may exceed the power limit of 65w. In fact, if I recall correctly the intel version of this laptop only comes with a 65w charger. We can always get a 65w GaN charger like the Lenovo thinkPlus charger for travelling as mention in the video.

Holy shit 90hz refresh rate. That's what I've been asking all my life for laptops. Can't wait to get the X1Carbon extreme with this

I got mine today! I ordered from the Ali-Express link provided in the description of the video. It's slow to arrive (2 months I think) but legit. I ordered just before the Chinese New Year, so I may have got caught up in the holiday.. I erased and re-downloaded Windows 10 (Update and Security) to remove the Chinese and bloatware. Up and running nice! I tested the CPU multi-core and got very similar results out of the box. Thanks Josh!

I thought this is a 500K sub channel quality video, how on earth just 100K? My tip to gain viewer would be: make some videos on other popular tech products, try different techs and see which one hit big.

Great video as always Josh, but I have one recommendation to do: You can't really compare single thread performance between the M1 and regular processors, because the M1 has no hyper threading. You should compare 2 threads who are running locked to one single cpu core against the M1. The performance is then ~20-30 higher for the Intel/AMD versions and comparable to the M1 performance. The M1 is still great, just not that crazy great :)

Hey Josh! I just got the HP Spectre x360 14 for university next year. Your input helped push me to purchase it after seeing the initial specs which were quite impressive. Just a note after receiving the laptop and as you mentioned in this video about its speakers, in the B&O audio control under EQ you need to max out the bass and treble as well as have the dialogue clarity at around 50% to get the most out of the speakers. If not they will sound soft and thin, nowhere near after applying EQ to them. Cheers!

If only this was a 2-in-1 with touch/pen support and a silo for a decent pen, this would be perfect. Have always loved the 16:10 ratio and agree its probably the sweet spot for laptops.

Great vid. You can now change refresh rate naively in Windows. Not sure if that's across the board or for specific GPUs.

Great review and good job getting your hands on this machine! Too bad that this model has very limited availability in Asia and Europe. In China, this laptop is branded as Yoga 14s 2021 AMD with the price tag less than $1,000 USD. There is also an Intel variant that has 11th gen i5-1135G7 (with the Intel EVO sticker). Furthermore, Lenovo China will soon start selling the 11th gen i5 + NVDIA MX 450 (28.5W DDR6) version of this laptop for $1,000 USD with limited supply. This spec would be the price to value king for a versatile thin and light laptop

Just ordered the new one with 5800h, hopefully it will arrive in the end of the month! The last part about not thinking too much made me decide haha

I've bought my yoga 14s from china today. Though they've written they've provided preinstalled microsoft office 2019 home with it, but I didn't find one. Another great thing to consider about this laptop is its price - My 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD configuration can be had for around 1000 USD imported from China. That is only around 2/3 to half the price of the other competitors Josh named in the video!

I wish it had a separate magsafe fast charging port to keep my usbc ports free. And still be able to charge with usbc in a pinch. This also put pressure on on your usbc ports. Companies are cheapening out like apple

Coming from the perspective of a Slim 7 owner (4700U) - this seems amazing. Amazing performance in really thin and light form factor, amazing price for what you get, great heat and noise management, great screen, great keyboard, great build quality, great speakers, good battery, good connectivity. Not one big, glaring issue. It's practically impossible to find all that combined in other laptops. If they did this with 5000 series, and 32GB of RAM, I'd happily pay $3k for it. The only thing holding back my Slim 7 for me is 16GB of RAM...Otherwise, never been happier with a laptop, even when they cost 3x more.

Does the display support Freesync? How does 60fps video look at 90hz?

Quick question: I know your reviews are so in-depth that there's probably no room to measure boot speed (temperature measurement is much appreciated!), but is it something you may want to consider for future reviews? I guess CPU specs should serve as a primer for boot speed, but with all the CPU variations even in the same CPU series, things can be more than confusing.

I got this laptop (with r7 5800h) and the spectre you compered it to. In contrast to what you thought i think the spectre sound louder with more bass. To me, although the Lenovo is great i prefer having a touch screen.

I have been debating which laptop I should get between the "Yoga Slim 7 Pro" you reviewed here vs. "Yoga 14s Pro 2022" which has a R7 6800HS Creator Edition. I took a gamble and got the Yoga 14s Pro 2022 from AliExpress. Overall, thermal is not as good as you have experienced with the "Yoga Slim7 Pro" unfortunately. Here is the results of the Geek bench in 'Extreme Performance' as 'Intelligent Cooling' throttles the CPU speed. Cinebench SC: 1,519 ( sustained 4.57 GHz ) Cinebench MC: 12,590 ( sustained 3.75 GHz ) Geekbench SC: 1,680 Geekbench MC: 9,837 I did not measure the CPU temperatures. On the Linux side, everything works except the keyboard which is super weird. Normally it would be the touchpad that does not function. Strange thing is that I am able to adjust brightness and put the system in airplane mode via the function keys. I am going to see if kernel 5.19 would address this issue. Just wanted share my experience here and please continue to produce more amazing videos! Cheers

Lenovo should just release the next version with AMD 5000 series. I hope Lenovo provides that with a worldwide release. Also I can't help but wonder if it would be better if they made it with Ryzen 5800U instead of 5800H as that would improve the battery life a lot without sacrificing much performance.
