Just my two cents, but after studying the Get Back project and watching the relations with Yoko " sitting on the amp", I think the Beatles were incredible respectful and supportive of John at this point. Maybe they felt they had to treat him with kid gloves. But the whole time I'm thinking, can you imagine if Paul brought Linda in everyday and John was alone there???? John would have lit him up in seconds. Its my belief that Paul is obviously the defacto leader of the group at this point, and Johns bringing Yoko in was a bold move to show he was still Top Dog . Maybe he just needed the emotional support, Paul was on fire creatively.

Well said. I watched Get Back closely too and found that Paul was incredibly tolerant and diplomatic about Yoko's ongoing presence. I didn't take much of a liking to John. Sure he's a musical genius, but bringing Yoko along stifled their creativity and it looked like it made George uncomfortable. It sort of gave John ammunition and he came across as arrogant. Having Yoko there is a bit like sharing a house with a couple. It was less of an issue for Paul because he's a musical genius and could work around it. I just wonder how many other great songs the Beatles could have produced if john hadn't met Yoko.

I miss Lennon/McCartney and I miss John and Yoko. I feel music history needed both John Lennons. The Yoko thing got blown out of proportion by the media. Think about it. Who would leave the Beatles because a girl friend was maybe a petty annoyance in the studio once or twice? History will show there was so much more to the break up but the Beatles loved each other like family. After 10 years they began feeling a little trapped in the Beatles and losing Epstein left them very vulnerable.

I grew up in the 79s hearing from all my elders how she destroyed the Beetles and for years that was my reality on the subject. But by the time I was twenty I the early 90s I began digging deeper and began to see things far different. So glad I’m recent times it has been revealed the truth. It is clear that her and John were deeply in love with each other. One of my favorite bits in the new Beetle doc that Paul is heard saying that she and John love each other that is that and good o them. The rest chime in positive on that as well. Hope we have her for more years to come.

I was born in 84 and I heard something similar from my father, he disliked her for “changing” John. Growing up I saw her more as someone who encouraged him to do whatever he wanted to, after watching the Get Back documentary I saw that they were madly in love, I think if I was their friend I would be annoyed with them being together ALL THE TIME, but she seemed so quiet, I don’t think she had nothing to do with them breaking up, they all seemed bored, tired and worn out.

Agree, but to be fair this was also much later. The weirdness and tension was happening more during the White Album. By the time of Let It Be they'd adjusted somewhat. No hate for Yoko here though, it wasn't her fault. And John genuinely loved her. He brought her into the studio with a bed during the White Album because she'd just recently had a miscarriage. He was still just as devoted to The Beatles as he was to her, or they both would have been at home. Most critics don't even know about that side.
@joegordon2915
@joegordon2915 2 жыл бұрын
She didn’t interfere??? Paul says she did all the talking for John at the meeting with George. If you’ve heard that conversation uncut, Neil says she does all the talking at the Apple board meetings. She’s sitting there in the midst of them while they are practicing, creating, writing. They all (except John) said at one time or another it made them uncomfortable. If your significant other sat right next to you all day long at your place of work it would make your coworkers uncomfortable. Paul has said many times they only accepted her as a compromise because otherwise John would quit. It wasn’t as benign a situation as it seemed.

@@joegordon2915 Yes. And the footage we saw had to be approved by all of them and/or their estate reps. Yoko approved of every second of the film. I would do the same about a film about my life.

I think so many blamed Yoko for the break-up, because she was tangible. It was clear they all had developed their own ideas that didn't involve each other, but you can't blame an idea for a break up, it's much easier to blame a person. Did she help? Well, no, but she wasn't the root of it either.

Yes, people often need a villain to neatly explain what upsets them or what they don’t understand and she was that for sure. Let’s be honest, whatever influence she did have over what was happening was directly tied to John. John set the boundaries (it failed to, in some ways) and it was likely a reflection of his feelings toward the band. It’s ultimately on him but it was far easier for people to be mad at her than to be mad at John Lennon.

I disagree with the replies above me. I must admit that I am a new listener of yoko, but it is known that a way of coping with childhood trauma is trying to act like a child as an adult. You could see this sort of as a way to “make up the time that was lost” in her childhood. I am glad I started to listen to her music before seeing the bombardment of hatred she has gotten over the Beatles situation. I have yet to know the full information that’s out about the Beatles situation, and I am aware that she could be a bad person, but I do not think she deserves the full crowd of hate she is getting over it. This reminds me of artists having one specific situation slapped onto their name. Even an artist such as Bjork, an insanely talented and ground breaking artist for music is subject to this, with a situation she had no direct control over. I don’t know if you people reading this know of the situation, and I will not explain this situation because from what I’ve seen, it brings a negative light to her name. A direct example of this would be me buying a bjork vinyl and showing my dad. I explained why I loved her music and I don’t remember the direct quote, but he mentioned something of this situation even without being familiar with her music. I personally blame media bringing most of the light to situations of this sort. Thanks for reading my KZfaq reply/music industry critique/rant. Wish you all the best.

That's a great respect for jonh. No other band will allow that. She's just a small part of why the beatles broke up..klein is the big part of it..regardless, they will still break up no matter what..they have nothing to prove at their young age..they are exhausted and want to continue on their own music. Yoko is a big part of lennon's legacy..even paul said, maybe jonh could not write all those songs if he hadnt met yoko.✌

Random Guy True. I'm not one of those Beatles fans who blames Yoko for the band breaking up. It's obvious the split was inevitable. Brian's death pretty much started that ball rolling and it went straight into Klein's grubby grabby little hands. But her treatment of Julian after John's murder was entirely on her. Yes, John could've amended his Will and made provisions, but it's not like he was on his death bed and a fairly physically healthy man who has just had a 40th birthday isn't typically thinking they won't live to see their 41st. That left his estate in her hands, and she really should've done better by Julian even if mainly for Sean's sake. Just saying, in her position I would prefer my son building a closer relationship with his older brother, especially for being a small child who no longer had a daddy. Thank goodness Julian and Sean are close despite the wedge all that disputing could've driven between them. Julian finally decided to forgive her and it's because he doesn't want his brother to feel caught in the middle of all that crap anymore.

In my humble opinion, here’s the reality: 1) Yoko did not break up the Beatles 2) But…she did show some selfishness, insensitivity and entitlement in being next to John every single minute during Let it Be sessions. Even if John asked her to be with him continually, Yoko could have put her foot down and said “John, I love you and will be nearby. I’ll sit next to you a little here and there. But MOST OF THE TIME, you need to be alone with your bandmates concentrating on making your great Beatles music.” That would have been the mature and right response for Yoko back then…as Linda was able to do it with Paul. So in truth, John and Yoko WERE INSENSITIVE to Paul, George and Ringo. That cannot be disputed. Let’s keep it real.

You could swap it and say that the band should have been more comfortable with her there. And like really contemplate why her presence was uncomfortable? She didn’t intrude. She was quiet as a bird. She understood her place. Her and John just wanted to let it be known that they were a unit now. There’s something admirable about that I think.
