Siping helps in rain and snow, this tire doesn't have much of that. Compare it to the Toyo AT3, which has tons of siping and is 3 peak rated. I think if snow is infrequent, the 3 ply sidewall makes the Geolander a good buy. Tires are going away from 3 ply sidewalls, claiming their 2 ply sidewalls have improved toughness. I'm not buying that idea.

@@MF-rw3rb I don’t disagree with you; however, I definitely think some tires blur the lines. The Toyo AT3 for instance does feature three ply sidewalls in some sizes; why they don’t advertise that is beyond me, but I’ve seen pics on forums of actual AT3’s with that designation on them. Another comparison is the Grabber ATX to the KO2; two ply vs. three, but I’ve also seen a few sources that have mentioned the KO2 has three 1,000denier plies, whereas the ATX has two 1,500 Denier plies. Same overall thickness, but...
