As David Bowie-an honest man-once said of the best music of the early 70’s: “We were just following whatever Roxy Music was doing.”

They were a total enigma, could sound retro and years ahead of their time, at the same time, cliched and original, amazing, unique and sadly underrated.

jelkel25 + Very well put, that was their charm for me how they seemed to swim between genres, and damn..Mother of Pearl ( Bryans ironic detachment so strong through)....peace

were in perfect harmony with the vibe of Bowie and Brian Eno in the limbo labeled Glam. But in fact it is very little to catalog them

The most wonderfully eclectic concert! Solo songs from Phil, Andy and Bryan ....and superb music throughout. Thanks so much for this extraordinary performance!

Thanks for this. It takes me back to November 1975 when I first watched Roxy live on the Siren tour at Bingley Hall, Birmingham. On that occasion the also had two female backing singers, The Sirens.😊

In Ottawa 73 at the NAC , friends had me listening to records but when I saw them live it was absolutely mind blowing. The 3 singers in aviator uniform and the band cranking out pure fun. Never forget it, I was 18 and I tried to imitate ferry dancing at nightclubs. Still crank them out, mostly live tracks.

VIVA! .........................ROXY MUSIC

Wow, what a performance by Ferry! And I didn't remember that Roxy played some of Bryan's solo covers on that tour.
the first time I saw Roxy on TOTP it must have been 71-72 I'm guessing, anyways after they were on I thought that's it pop music has changed forever and I saw it happen, then they were on TOGWT and played live, Eno in his leopard skin jacket twisting those nobs and the face makeup everyone was gobsmacked, we were still listening to Slade and really terrible pop music, things changed very quickly after that night, basically everyone watched to see what Roxy would do next, airline pilots, cabaret lounge singers, pimps, every week was a new style,

The band became watered down by this point, leading to a premature solo turn for Ferry...not the same without Eno & the glam.
@vincebalosky7714 ай бұрын
This band never became water down you don't know what you're talking about taking nothing away from Brian Eno I loved everything he put out but Roxy music became a better band without him I seen this tour 1975 I was 18 I remember it like it was yesterday siren they had just put out and Bryan ferry had a solo career going while this LP came out and even before this album ever Phil manzanera as well and Andrew McKay as well I remember this concert Bryan ferry did a hard rain's going to fall
