This is fantastic! I was just too young to see RM in 76 but listened to their Lps all the time.First concert I saw was either Bryan Ferry solo in Leicester in 77 or 78.The first time I saw RM live was in the 1980 tour that included the Dortmund performance you see elsewhere on utube another bigger venue also in Leicester. That was fantastic but by then they'd sort of moved on from this type of performance which I had only read about in New Music Express and which you've posted. I bet I've seen BF or RM a dozen times (actually spoke to the saxophonist last time) but never saw them perform in this period as I said.Thank you very much for posting. This is great!

I could never work out why there were four bassists credited, but only 3 gigs! The bass playing on "Both Ends Burning" is very similar to this gig, so who knows? (you can't trust Wikipedia).I assumed John Wetton was the current Roxy Bassist (circa 'Viva') & the other 3 guys were on the recordings.

❤Yes. Chicago, IL, 9-19-2023, United Center. Great Concert! Roxy Music never comes to St. Louis anymore. I've been a fan since 11-8-1975, when my late husband Rodney introduced me to Roxy Music. I am a Bowie fan prior & now. "How can you choose between Bryan Ferry and David Bowie? They"re both God's.". A line from movie entitled: "Flashbacks Of A Fool " ❤❤❤❤❤ hearing both❤ I never tire hearing their music or Lou Reed, Iggy Pop. I'm a Passinger to all their sounds. Spoke, Spoke

I have been a fan of Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry since November 8, 1975. My soon to be husband, Rodney, introduced me to The Band that night. We played "Psalm" at our Church wedding intro. 3-5-77..... We had the pleasure to see them 2-17-1976 at The Ambassador Theatre, then on 4-12-1979 at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis, Missouri. I saw them July 30, 2001 at Allstate Arena, Rosemont, IL July 31, 2001. Plus, got to meet them. Such A Thrill! They were staying at the same hotel, The Hotel Sofitel, in Rosemont. Then, of course, I had the pleasure of hearing them 9-19-2023 in Chicago. Wish Rodney could have had the pleasure. ROXY MUSIC/BF ALL THE TIME ANYTIME ❤❤ My goal is to hear them in the UK or the USA again.

+BigDeanoSyd Do you realize what year this was, and what the standards of video recording were? Better yet, do you realize this was not recorded in an audio studio. Get some perspective.

clintfalk I've seen and heard much better live concert recordings with footage from the 70s, why don't you get some perspective!

Because I'm old even to have been there and have a perspective from a technical and historical aspect. STANDARDS of quality were different and just because you saw better recordings from era, doesn't mean all of could have been that way. A lot of video from that era was shot in B&W, for example.

Bless Brian Ferry. He never could sing worth a damn, but he had this weird vocal style that combined crooning with punk talking that somehow worked beautifully.

So you "grew up" in only 2 years (since you "forgot" Roxy Music after Eno left)? That's pretty quick! Of course Eno was an important part of the early RM but who wrote the songs? Eno was always meant to be on his own anyway--where he has done quite well--whereas the post-Eno RM under Ferry (and the "remaining" musicians) in my opinion continued to make great (and "unforgettable) music (and art) for several years to come. So you never said why you were on this page where Eno is nowhere to be found.

@ a veryantitory (huh?)--That's why they made recordings, chief! Seriously, there's enough Eno-inspired weirdness on those two albums to last anyone (not just Bryan Ferry) a lifetime--and of course he continued to use RM musicians on several of his post-RM masterpieces--so I don't see what all the freakin' fuss is!
