This is Yamamoto's 3rd start with a shutout. Besides the first game in Korea he has pitched really well. He's still getting adjusted to the league in his first season in MLB.

What I seen of Yamamoto is a sign of a great pitcher. He has great movement command in his pitches and works the stike zone, alot of pitchers has good stuff or just throws hard but don't know how to paint and work the corner's of the strikezone. Yamamoto paints it like an artist.

Today's Yoshinobu Yamamoto was helped by catcher Austin Barnes' framing technique. It felt like Since he is compatible with this catcher, I would like him to be a dedicated catcher to Yoshinobu Yamamoto like Clayton Kershaw

I agree, ever since the last game with the Mets the bullpen has been stepping up. It was nice today to see a more poised Phillips on the mound with command on his pitches, and attacking batters. That is the attitude you need as a pitcher.

People saying he needs to pitch better than Gerrit Cole is absurd. Cole hasn't even pitched this season like come on. Give Yama some time to dominate. Why are we baseball fans worried when his own teammates believes he will do great.

On a Twelve year contract he has time but he is showing signs of brilliance already. Personally I was expecting him to struggle for at least a couple of months but I don’t believe he will be struggling after today, he is clearly getting more confident and that is bad news for anyone that picks up a bat.

Yamamoto is a great pitcher like Greg Maddox instead of a hard thrower with heat like Randy Johnson. Yoshi's movement on his pitches and commmand especially on his spliter is incredible.

Yup. His command is his selling point. If he can dot the strike zone as he pleases, it's over for the rest of the league. [Plus his splitter.]

6 IP, 0 R, 7 K, 4 H, 1 BB Even though the opponent was the weak Nationals, Yamamoto pitched well. He tends to get a lot of attention because he signed a bigger contract than even Gerrit Cole, but people forget that he is only 25 and in his MLB rookie year.🗻👏

I think he'll be an ace by the end of this year. Considering he is still adjusting and not at 100% and he had a 45 ERA after 1 game and he's already down to the mid 3s.

I had a flashback of Masahiro Tanaka of the 2020 Yankees being hit in the head by a 112 mph (approximately 180 km/h) liner (straight line ball) during a practice session and collapsing. Yoshinobu Yamamoto caught a similar ball and was lucky that it didn't lead to anything serious

It’s good to see his gradual improvement. I was hoping he would make it into the 7th but he ran into some trouble in the 6th, making extra pitches. I’m really curious how he does against the more elite NL teams like the Braves, Phillies and Brewers.

It's the placement of his fast ball. His issue was he was throwing it as first pitch and down the middle. Now that it's no longer his first pitch 80% of the time and he is going away with it everything changed

@@oraora5410 yes I agree Otani but Dodgers must thing of his longevity, and not introduce him to quick as a starter. Next year imo he should be either be a setup or closer, and sometimes start a bullpen game. Then half way if his arm feels good, then move him as a starter

Its dumb that we don't use VR or AI to exactly call a strike. Too much subjectivity in having a human do it. Its really unfair to batters. The zone should not be subjective. It should be exact.

Only 0:07 was the questionable call. Other two strikeouts were right on the strike zone and it's the right call. The umpire was terrible throughout the game not only Yamamoto, but the Nationals got lucky calls too.

@@mao5787 but it is a much wider issue, at all levels from pro all the way down to little league. you have much subjectivity and wrong call making. probably over the next 5-10 years we'll see some tech do more of the call making. but the umps will still be there. over time the tech will get cheaper so it will work its way down to minor leagues, college, high school, and finally LL
