Timber Jim (aka Jim Serrill) was the mascot for the earlier North American Soccer League and, later, the United Soccer League Portland Timbers soccer team. On January 24, 2008, Jim announced his retirement. Timber Jim's daughter, Hannah, was killed in an automobile accident in 2004, and in her memory, the Timbers Army sung "You Are My Sunshine," (her favorite song) led by a tearful Timber Jim. It is now an 80th minute tradition.

Yes, it was the last USL Timbers home game. Also, if you mean the old NASL "Sunshine Goal", it really does not register nearly as much as does the story of Jim and his daughter, Hanna. The "Sunflower Goal" (the last USL home goal for the win) happened less than a half a minute after I stopped recording (timing is everything). That being said, thank you.

Your silky smooth touch around the rim, and that gorgeous jumpshot. I would do anything for you. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never have to watch you retire.
