Thank you for the video! I used to be so frustrated that gamine and romantic clothing with ruffled and fun patterns would make me look somehow massive and more masculine. Now, as a SD, I understand WHY some things fit me and others don't, and I feel (and am perceived) as very feminine. 💜

Lol I agree! I used to wonder why certain stiff fabrics and lines would make me feel so big or certain lines made me feel over exposed. It’s because I need a long line in a soft fabric! Be careful with your words to describe SD, as I just got literally attacked on kibbe Reddit for using the word “bulky” to describe how I felt as a soft dramatic lol 😂 Apparently people are easily triggered. I just feel better in flowy fabrics that’s all I meant!

I thought I was theatrical romantic since I’m curve dominant and moderate in stature. So It took me a long time to observe that even tho I’m 5’5, my limbs are elongated. I submitted some pictures of my body in the reddit kibbe community and they were spot on to point me as an SD. Finding out what looks good on me changed my life!

Finally, I found my type after YEARS. I thought I was Theatrical Romantic for years after the body type test, although I knew it is not possible if you’re tall, which I am (I’m 176 cm). There were no results available for my answers so TR was the closest guess, until I realized now after watching literally all of these videos that I am in fact SD. This I also suspected after I saw a picture of Sofia Vergara at the beach in my feed and I almost fell of my chair because her body there looked exactly like mine (and my mom’s😂). Thank you!

Same, but a SD does not have to have a big chest obligatorily, as kibbe says slight deviation here and there is possible, the most important I believe is the overall figure, long limbs, moderately tall, curvy hourglass shape

@@andressamazgka thanks, I appreciate your response! And I totally understand where you’re coming from. And if you’re an hourglass I’m totally jealous because I wish I was! Lol, but I’m actually very pear shaped. I don’t have that nice curve or hourglass figure up top because my rib cage although small isn’t much bigger than my waist. And although I am of Italian descent like Monica and Sophia, I would never call my facial features exotic. Maybe I’m just a Dramatic that needs to work on my legs and thighs more. I appreciate your input and maybe you don’t have to check every box to be considered a SD.

@@tula1433I have a question regarding the movie and the character Malena. Women with the SD body type have the tendency to draw attention and get objectified simply because of their striking beauty, or it may happen to any woman with other Kibbe body types or i.d.s apart from SDs? I can't help but think about it and when I read the synopsis of the film on Wikipedia it upsets me that women get Eve teased then reviled simply because they are quite attractive or simply because they're women. It saddens me why some people treat other people that way😢. I empathize and feel sorry for Malena and other people like her who get subjected to such prejudices.😢

While I appreciate how much it helps to understand your body type, it's also a bit of a bummer if the styles that suit you the most are the ones you like the least. I like the draped fabrics suggestions, but for example I never liked bigger jewellery, asymmetrical styles or handbags that seem a bit formless with the round edges. And sometimes I really wish that those oversized styles would fit me. Can anyone recommend something for SD with simpler and classier looks that don't look "too much"?
@edennis8578
@edennis8578 9 ай бұрын
Tbh, I don't think that Aly is helping us by showing such extreme examples. I would never wear most of the outfits she was showing. If I did, people in my town would think I was seriously eccentric. My favorite SD outfits are moderately draped-neck, or faux-wrap, tops, or soft, looser sweaters (that is, not tight), paired with flared, boot-cut, or soft-leg straight pants (think vintage Katherine Hepburn pants); wrap dresses with flared or fuller skirts. My bags are always structured, never soft. I prefer a rectangular shoulder bag or rigid clutch. I'm not against rounded contours in a bag, but it must have structure. I would rather edge into Classic territory than anything else, and as a Soft Dramatic, nobody, but nobody, has ever accused me of looking boring, not in 68 years. When I was young, I got more attention than I wanted. I like noticeable earrings, but not huge. For instance, 3/4" diameter hoops. I like wide ones because I have a narrow face. A draped scarf puts me firmly into SD territory, but I usually skip it. I never wear big ruffles! They looked ridiculous on me even in high school. Most of the outfits that Aly showed were too big, too blousy, too much of everything. That's so unnecessary. By our very nature, SDs are attention-getting. We don't need to look like Barbara Cartland romance characters.

The face is not always a good indicator. Kibbe himself apparently doesn't type by the face anymore since his types are about the lines of the body and what looks good on the body. I can't wear oversized jewellery near my face either, unless it has soft coloring and a delicate feel to it. My face is absolutely not "exotic", i am quite pale and my face is long and narrow with a very ethereal feel to it. But the lines of my body are still soft dramatic. I couldn't get to terms with that until i realized all I needed from Kibbe were the general shapes of the clothing and for the rest i needed to dress for my personal face, style and coloring. Look up Kitchener's style essences, they might help make things clear
@gretslie
@gretslie Жыл бұрын
I always take the Kibbe heights as guidelines, not rules. What is important is the overall proportions of the body, not the literal height. I think people get a little too caught up in the heights mentioned and think that they are hard and fast rules, when Kibbe himself never followed them! 😂 So, if you think you are a Theatrical Romantic and all evidence points to that except for the number measurement of your height, you probably are a Theatrical Romantic! Proportion is everything.
