We love to push the envelope of what we can grow here in Zone 5 and who knew? Saffron crocus are so easy to grow, perennial and beautiful, not to mention delicious! Though it takes ~75,000 blossoms to grow one pound of saffron, you can easily grow plenty for your own enjoyment with a handful of corms, and I hope that you do!
We share our organic saffron crocus corms here: www.fruitionse....
And to enjoy Fruition's free Grow Your Own Saffron Mini-Course, hop on over here: fruitionseeds.....

Ps my friend my parents got my name from Song of Solomon chapter 4 verse 14 73 years ago. Read it. The spice is an expensive spice now and it's a shame. Because Jesus grew a garden it had Saffron and Cinnamon in it along with other healthy veggies and fruit trees he fed his people with the food he had Cooking Chef's And they served good food for his people Don't take my word read it. Its in the Holy Bible. God wanted his people to eat healthy. I'm not Ritch but I have a blessed name. I have a meaningful name. God bless!

Looove this video! I just planted 15 Saffron crocus bulbs. I know it's a little late but I saw then for the first time at the store and had to get them. Fingers crossed I get something this year.

I'm 7b NC. I have tried to plant them 2 years in a row without a harvest. I'm going to have to plant in containers and cover with chicken wire. I think the squirrels eat them and this past January we had rain almost every single day and I think they also rotted. We don't get anywhere near 10 degrees in zone 7b in the winter (sometimes 60-70 degrees all winter). Do you think I should refrigerate them in winter? Thanks for doing a video when you have actually had success. I'm tired of videos of people trying something.

Really interesting. Where can you get saffron seeds or bulbs ... or what do you do to grow it. At the very least the flowers look very beautiful.
