In a secret location in the rolling Trent Hills lies something truly unexpected - True Saffron Farm.
Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world and known as red gold for its health benefits and the amazing taste it imparts when used in cooking and baking.
Saffron isn't supposed to grow in Ontario, but it's thriving under the loving care of Eric and Martin.
True Saffron grows some of the finest saffron in the world. You can order on line or learn more at: truesaffron.ca/
You can also grow your own with True Saffron bulbs.
A huge thank you to Eric and Martin for allowing us access to their farm.

You should pluck it at night since the flowers are stressed under sunlight. In kashmir , plucking is done from 1 am to 3 am .

I purchased 10 bulbs. I live in zone 5b. I have a feeling I may sacrifice 5 to leave in the ground over the winter and 5 to bring indoors to determine if they can tolerate my hardy zone. As I know the thrive in zone 6-8. So I’m curious if you leave them in the ground over the winter? And if so, have they multiplied? Rapidly ? Or not.

each bulb only produces one flower but over the years the bulbs will multiply and will be separated to increase the amount of plants so you would get more flowers but I guess would also require more space.
