I do remember a few years ago I took a Photoshop class and learned there’s also a bit of video editing in Photoshop . I don’t recall it being able to make adjustments like this however. It would be cool to have a lightweight editor to do some basic video tasks inside Lightroom or Photoshop; I rarely do video so it’s not worth it for me to buy into a powerful (and more expensive) app outside of Lightroom or Photoshop. You could always edit videos in Lightroom (Classic), but not directly. You could apply a preset over a video file in the library and then export it as mp4 with settings applied. Only a limited set of settings did apply, though. No highlights/shadows, and no clarity/dehaze. BUT color mixer and camera calibration worked, so I used it extensively to color grade my clips into vintage orange&teal look.

I was just thinking today it would be handy to have a video editor for quick adjustments like in LRc. I just wanted something simple to really drop the highlights and adjust contrast. I avoid LR like the plague, think I'll be updating to the latest version now. Great video.

Hi Anthony, it is in fact quite possible to edit video in lightroom classic, you just need to be in library mode, not in the development mode. Also by saving a still frame from the video, then doing all the editing you want in development mode, then saving the changes as a preset, you can then apply that preset to the whole video in library mode. So not only can you edit video like this, you can actually do things like convert to black and white if you wish. However there is not much point when you can use a versatile free program like Davinci Resolve to do almost anything you would wish to do in the way of editing video, including the sound track.

There has to be a way to take a video with the iPhone and send it to LR for edit. But it uses the cloud for the transport and videos will quickly use up the 2 TB we get for free!

Thanks for the instructions. But when I save the MP4 file, it will shrink/compress to about half of the original size with no cuts. When I make cuts in the video, the size will be smaller but this is logical of course. What is your experience in this respect? Is it compression, lowering the resolution? Does it already happen during import and is it some setting? This is from raw camera movie shot in 4k/30fps on a Sony Alpha. What I would like to do: import 4k MP4, do some small color mixing edits, export 4k MP4 with same information/density in the file. Thanks!

So in lightroom classic I accidentally left a video along my raw Canon images. So when I edited an image and then applied the edit across a bunch of pictures. It applied to the video and when I exported the bunch the video was rendered! It looked ugly because my sliders were set for my raw photos but still...

A side note: I got an info mail from Adobe briefly describing the new functionality. Linked was an old article about videos in Lightroom Classic (with its very limited functions). I then had an email exchange with Adobe support and tried to tell them that the new video feature is only available for Lightroom (mobile) and that they had included a wrong link. But they insisted that the new video functions were made available for Lightroom Classic :-(.

Majority of my presets don’t work on video cuz they use curves and apparently you can’t do that on video yet on Lightroom

Hello. The Lightroom's Interface I have is identical to the one on this video. However, when I click on the edit on the top right, I get a "Editing video is unsupported. Video can be added, viewed but not edited" Anyone have any information on this that can help me?

It's strange that it won't convert to black and white, yet you can remove saturation and vibrance to make it black and white?

I don't need to edit my videos as much as I want LR Classic to treat them as first class citizens. LR doesn't really dig out all the metadata within a video and there are other rather fundamental basic places where videos are excluded from the fun. If LR had no editing capabilities at all, I would still use it because of its keywords, collections, easy import, and other features. E.g. I can round trip a still image with Photoshop and include the results into my LR catalog very easily, but I can not round trip a video with Premiere Pro. I can't even send a video to Premiere Pro that I know of.

I consider the title clickbait! Not only was the same kind of limited video editing available in LR Classic all the time (as other commenters have pointed out already). But also Anthony, you fail to point out where this „new“ capability goes beyond LR Classic. Probably not at all, as not even Clarity seems to work now. And only this would be a hint that anything changed on Adobe‘s agenda (which is to sell Premiere) …
