The Mongols. Genghis Khan. The largest land empire the world has ever known.
This is a land home to people who really punched above their weight. But that was history, what's going on in modern Mongolia? Are the traditions still going strong?
After finishing my summer trip around China, I decided to pay a quick visit to China's greatest rival. I was not disappointed.

@noahbrown4388 that's the problem though, before, long ago, not now. If people would come ànd live in the forefront of their minds, we wouldn't have so many problems, letting people let you relive, even if you where never there for 100s, thousands of years, does a disservice to all of us. Only day you can honestly live in is today.

The drinks, you had in a first herder family, are fermented mare milk. It is called "Airag or Kumis in English". It is a Mongolian national beverage. It is perfect for human health and the Number one beverage of Mongolian men (even for women and children) and you have had vodka made of cow milk. It is called "Nermel arkhi" it is not strong, it is soft but capable to be a drunk.

Actual city of Kharkhorin was much much bigger just as displayed in a well established local museum there. Another thing to correct here is that the two humped camel or Bactrian Camel wasn't imported but rather it was domesticated here on the steppes of Mongolia. We still have the ancestors of the Bactrian camel, Khavtgai, the wild camel, that is roaming the remoteness of the Gobi today.
